Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Undergraduate Scholarship 2017

Same thing here. Despite the syllabus in my country being mostly the same, on Maths B tests I screw up. The idea is that we put the emphasis on other parts of the maths (M1 maths which is the hardest) like analysis and algebra (linear and composition laws). I felt silly on '15 paper, we even haven't ever done the circle in highschool. But I'll study the basics before the test.

Also, is Maths B given on Natural Siences (physics, chemestry, engineering etc)? I feel confused.

Yes, Math B is for Natural Sciences (A, B & C) and Math A is for Social Sciences & Humanities.

Would kindly explain what you mean by focusing on "analysis and algebra (linear and composition laws)"? Will you study the basics from the EJU syllabus? or somewhere else?

Yeah, of course you can ^^

There's nothing to worry about! Just wait.. Did you go directly to the Embassy to submit you application? I guess so.. They'll usually start the documents screening after the deadline. This process can take many days depending on the number of applications they received. According to the website of Japan's Embassy in Nigeria, the exams will be held around middle of July. If you pass the docs screening, they will notify you (phone call, mail, email, ..) and invite you to take the exams. Good Luck !

Hello Asmaa. I got copies of the previous MEXT exams (2012 2013 2014) from the Japanese embassy in Indonesia. Use google translator to navigate your way to the download links. :)

Hi everyone!
I'm really glad to see yet another great thread full of inspired people!
I wish you guys all the best!
For those who have read the previous threads, I had been a very active member in Monbukagakusho 2016 thread!
Last year I passed all the exams and even aced the interview, but was rejected in the secondary screening due to being underaged!
But I hope I do make it this time.
For those of you who need any advice from my experience on the exams or interview, feel free to let me know!
also, I have all the papers from 2005-2015! if anyone wants to study them inbox me please :)
Let's do it guys, the applications are almost here, let's give our best and grab our dreams! :D

Hello Shaneah. When was your interview? Also, when did you take the written English/Japanese exam? (Fellow Filipino applicant here for the Graduate/Research Scholarship).

Last year, the Japan Embassy Manila released the results on 5 August 2015. We may have to wait for a month more. :)

Hi,

Pano nyo po nalaman na di kayo naqualify for interview? Did they email you?
Hello there! Kailan lang kayo na-notify ng Japan Embassy na nashortlist kayo for qualifying exam?
Btw, I applied on undergrad category and I haven't received any emails.

Ohhh! Ikaw pala yun. Nice xD Don't worry! Try until sa age limit!! This is my second time applying (and my last bec age limit), reached until final stage last year but sadly MEXT didn't want me so yeah. So push lng gurl! Don't give up. Ganbare!! XD

Hi cheapthrill,

Unfortunately the Japanese embassy does not notify applicants who did not qualify for the written exam. Applicants for Research Scholarship who qualified for the exam were notified on 12th June. I would assume the undergraduate applicants were also notified on that day too. The English exam is the same for all scholarship categories and thus scheduled on the same day. The exam was on the 20th June and then the interviews were conducted on the 21st and 22nd.

Try your luck next year. I suggest submitting your documents early AND personally so that if there are discrepancies in your application documents, the embassy staff can help you how to fix it.

Hey everyone!
I need some clarity please. So I've been invited for the testing in South Africa but I wanted to ask something. Am I writing a 2016 exam or a 2017 exam?

So in other words, if I find an exam paper that has 2007 on it - does it mean that that specific exam was written in 2006 for 2007? XD I'm quite confused.

Thanking you all in advance!

Yeah, of course you can ^^

Hi Kobayakawa! Had the exam June 16 then interview June 17. Yeah, since last year the results for the Interview was released end of July (undergrad category). Got a little paranoid since the Interview was conducted a week after the exam not the day after. Let's just hope for the best! :D

Thanks Shaneah! I thought there were undergrad applicants on the 20th for the English exam. Apparently, you have separate exam day for English too. (Which means....oh boy, the 100+ who took the exam were all graduate/research applicants. @_@

You're welcome! We took all the exams in one day. We were about less than 15 for undergrad. Getting nervous for the interview results Dx

Would you have any idea how many applicants qualified for the interview? Last year no one qualified for the undergrad scholarship. Seems like this year there are a number of bright and promising applicants. :)
