I just called them this morning, but the only thing they mentioned was only asked me to wait, wait and wait. When i asked them whether MEXT already released the result or not, they just said "please just wait the result, probably we'll released it by mail. Around Dec or early January". Sigh

The result is not final yet. I am quite anxious as I applied to private university and the fee is much more higher compare to public university.

Me too. my 2 top list are private uni. Its Hard to find art & design department in National Universities that would accept my research proposal

Fortunately our government doesn't certify or accept degrees from private universities, therefore my list contains only national universities. Also since my major is Electrical Engineering so i can find a national uni's that would accept my research plan. Anyway I wish to all friends best of luck

I have question regarding the 6 month Japanese Language course...
Do we have the freedom to select where we are going to take the course? or is it going to be in the university we get placed in?

@GAugust - MEXT decides where you take the course. If it's offered at your Uni, you'll take it there, but if it isn't, you may have to go to another university for those 6 months.
When I worked at a private uni, our students had to take the language course at a nearby National uni. I don't know if it's always that way, though.

I've looked at the email and feel soooo relieved! But I guess we still have to wait for the university placement result in January? My 1st preference is Tohoku University and my 2nd preference is Gifu University. Is there any chance that the university reject us even though we already passed the secondary screening?

Yes, there's still very little chance to be rejected. Anyway, based on experience of the previous applicants, they were all accepted by their university even though not all got their first choice.
