It sounds right as the is a Japanese crest symbol in the centre. I will research that to see if it matches Kitagawa-clan. Thank you again for your help. I have learnt a lot.

All the families/clans of the same family name don't always use the same, only one family crest. It's impossible to investigate a family name only from a crest in most cases, except very famous clans (for instance daimyōs such like Tokugawa or Takeda).

Hi, Can you help me with a small translation? I'm after the Kanji Translation of the words 'Flaming Dragon'? I'd like to use it in artwork I am making. According to google translate 炎炎龍 is close but I'm worried about accuracy/grammar etc. Can you offer any advice? I asked someone who had a basic grasp of english and they told me 赤炎龍 was better but that is red flame dragon. Thanks in advance.

I think this might be katakana and not kanji.
