Would you proofread, please?

Hello, native English speakers.

Would someone proofread the sentences I've made for my high school students?

(a) If I lived in a big city, I would go out more often.

(b) If I were you, I would not do such a thing.

(c) If I were a film director, I would shoot a film here.

(d) If I had been there at that time, I would have helped you.

(e) If you hadn't helped me, I would have lost the game.

(f) If the company hadn't hired[/employed] him at that time,
it would have gone bankrupt.

(g) If I were a little younger, I could get to the top of that mountain.

Sadly, these days a lot of native speakers couldn't write those correctly.

Grammar is just fine. See if they can actually use these in conversation, not just on paper, and even with "would've" spoken to them instead of "would have".

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." sounds more natural to me than "If I were you, I would not do such a thing." Although, I don't know if it fits the grammar point you are trying to convey.

"If I would've" instead of "If I had".

It drives me nuts. It's like somebody vigorously rubbing cheese graters up and down on my ears.

And while I'm ranting....when did Americans start misusing "obviously" to mean "naturally" or "as you would expect"? Don't even get me started on "try and <verb>" instead of "try to <verb>".

Since you cared enough to reply, then it is quite obvious you "could care less".

If you "couldn't care less", you wouldn't have replied at all.

Can you give an example of the misuse of "obviously"? I can't remember having heard it, which makes me wonder if I do it myself. The bigger one that I see and hear all the time is "literally" being used as strengthener/intensifier, even when something is figurative -- "She's literally on a roller coaster to hell."
