MEXT Scholarship 2012

Got the final confirmation yesterday. :)

Have to sign the pledge. Hope they don't ask me to give a health certificate again. already gave it at the time of applying (in May) and one to Ministry of HRD (India) today. Please MEXT/Embassy/Govt. Of India I cant afford that many doctor visits and expenditure.

Don't know why they ask everyone in India to submit the health certificate twice. Hope the remaining process till I land in Japan will be smooth. :)

Cool Grampusn! I hope we could be buddies in Nagoya.. What is your course program there?

WE have different Graduate School.. I will be in aerospace engineering program.. But I think we might become classmate in Japanese Language class provided when we arrive there on April?

Ok so, I don't need to be worried about visa. It's totally easy here, and I am gonna get it in 1 day. All I need is photo, 2 copies of application for visa and passport... I can get it at any time, I don't need to wait for tickets or information on actual date of departure, because they give me 3 months to enter Japan... And yeah, I am gonna get students visa for 2 years...Hope this information (and all my posts here) will be useful for future applicants.

P.S. See you all in Japan, I gotta prepare for everything, and may disappear for some time...

Hi,I gotta say its far more easier here!!! Today i visited embassy to sign agreement and she only took a photocopy of my passport. She also asked me to submit my passport in the beginning of March and they will return me with the visa few days later. No application nothing!!!

Congrats kouun9 with your success!!!!

I think it is a strong possibility and anybody else who will go to Nagoya University?
Not exactly Nagoya but really close. I will go to Tsu-shi, Mie-ken :) it is 70km far from Nagoya :)
I also study architecture. Nice to meet you :))
The Mie University comfirmed me today that they have secured a couple room at the dormitory for me and my wife. It's a big relief, one thing less to worry about.
Embassy told me 4 weeks ago over phone that I was in for sure but still haven't got the official paper...
Anyone taking family to Japan? I wonder what is the procedure for my wife, actually how long she must wait before getting visa and joining me in Japan?

Congrats to everyone, I am glad this thread finally become so cheerful :))
now even waiting is not so hard

Yes, thanks :)

But now I have to bring my wife till the end of April or I am going to lose dormitory...
And because of the long procedure for her visa it would be very hard to do it...

On top of that, the Embassy is closed till Monday due to my country's national holiday... Again wait :)

Hi everyone!

I have just received notice from the International Student Division of my University, containing information about the flight schedule, necessary documents to bring there and other general information. Has anyone received such notice?
There are no details about the flight date and dorm rooms.
As I have been informed, they will notify us on March.
Regarding the visa, my procedure has just begun. I am glad about there :)
I am getting prepared now the things to bring with myself. What about you guys? How are you spending this time?

I gave a similar notice from the university, but unfortunately there is no news from the embassy. I am spending my time with reading the research papers of my supervisor and waching some japanese dramas :)

This is so exciting, so far I think all of us that were active in this thread got POSITIVE results! :D I'm gonna apply for my visa next week, can't wait for April 1-4. :D

I really wish the Todai dorm will get settled already though. But I'm not complaining! :D

Congratulations to all of us again!

I positively 'envy' you GrampusN! You are enjoying your victory as I wish for myself.
Now I am currently at my work, still haven't resigned yet and cannot wait til the end of this month to do it:?

During my free time, I am reading the recommended literature from my supervisor and learning Japanese language but got not much time.
Anyway, I feel super happy and enthusiastic during these days and I am trying to enjoy to the fullest this time at my home country.
I will miss it :(
What about you GrampusN, do you have knowledge of Japanese? What subject are you going to study at Japan?

I was wondering whether we are going to leave this thread after April? If so, i have a proposal if you all like. we post a small profile on which Uni applied, which subject, which country, important timeline say when important decisions were made(like written exam result, interview result , December result, final result, dorm information etc.) . This will be a great help for the future applicants as they will get all the information they would be looking for within a page or two. Tell me what you guyz think about this.

I like that idea a lot. Im also going to write up how I approached the entire application process and I'll post my research proposal as well.
I'm still waiting for the university internal results before doing so tho.

I hope we can all fulfill our dreams to study in Japan!

I also work like you:) but i suppose that i will not resign from my job. I want to make an agreement with my university if they accept it. If i manage it, my wage will not be cut off during my education in Japan, but it is required a mandatory work in İstanbul for approximately 8 years after i will have turned... How about this situation works for other countries? Are there any research assistant at this forum?

Moreover, i have taken a Japanese course in Turkey for 6 months with latin alphabet, i hope that it will help me after arriving in Japan:)
I will work on earthquake engineering subject.

Hi, things are quite similar in public universities here in my country. One has to come to an agreement where wages are not cut off during study but he/she has to come back and join after. But there year restriction is not as harsh as 8 years.
Things are different in private universities where i am currently connected. They don pay wage during study time but allow you leave and join when come back. They also count these leave period as experience years.

we can also post about our dorm info, about entrance exams taken to enter PhD or MA etc which we will take in Japan later. Or other other information regarding classes taken, processes like opening a bank account, foreigners registration etc, and many more such info which I think is valuable for a first timer. Or our own experiences in Japan.

ya, that would be fantastic. I hope more people would agree to this.

^ How did you know that you're on waiting list? The embassy told you already?

I still have no dormitory. Todai guys, can you give me a heads-up when you've been contacted regarding the dormitory application, thanks!
