Hello everyone,
these long waiting seems it will never end, especially now in February which seems to be the great month of final acceptance.
I have emailed several times the embassy but no reply till now.
It is killing my nerves this situation with no clear direction.
I have applied at Kobe University, research student at Graduate School of Engineering. My supervising professor informed me about university acceptance and specified a list of book to read for PhD preparation. I have confirmed the Japanese course participation and have been informed about the place of lodging. But no further information from the embassy or university.
I am trying to stay calm and learn some Japanese on my own and read the suggested books.
What about you guys, has anyone got any notification from the embassy in Italy?
Is anyone going to Kobe University? We could help each other so please let me know!
Don your country have local Japanese embassy? why don you try calling them. Anyways, i don think its too late to hear a good news.

Hi edahiro!
I can feel your anxiety over waiting for that final notice. I tried to contact the local embassy in my country and the staff politely told me that as soon as they receive the list from MEXT Tokyo, they will inform us. And truly they immediately emailed us around 4:30pm the following day!
I read in the previous thread for MEXT 2011 that some received the notice around March 2. I hope yours won't reach until that time.
I guess you are doing the preparation now! What University are you going to study at? Which degree?
Ehime University, research leading to PhD in Environmental Toxicology. Been to Kobe University two years ago for a short visit to a professor friend. What's your degree?
Yes, thanks, starting now to secure documents for visa application.
Lucky you! At least you know your route now
Have you been suggested any preparation for the PhD Acceptance Test? I don't know what to prepare for expect reading the recommended books.
My friend who took the PhD acceptance/qualifying test last October 2011 (Tohoku Univ) told me that the questions asked by the panel were mostly about the proposed research/dissertation. Another friend (graduated in Kobe Univ) said she took a written examination with questions on the basic knowledge on her research field, and an oral examination about the proposed research. I guess the type of acceptance/qualifying test differs in each university.
Were the recommended book list your professor gave you about your research field? Then maybe we can just guess that they will test your basic knowledge? Haha, i don't know. I know you are well equipped and ready for the acceptance test. Just keep on reading. Just to while away your time while waiting for the result.![]()
Thank you for the shared information! Referring to the books, I guess they will test my knowledge about the research plan I prepared. Yeah, you are right, I just should keep reading and stay positive
Thank you for your encouragement! Good luck![]()
I've just received a notice from the embassy! Finally I am accepted for the scholarship
Hey racoon, my waiting ended today![]()
Congratulations to everyone who received final confirmation, and good luck to all, who are still waiting!
I am still waiting information about accommodation from my school. No news yet ><
To those who already received MEXT confirmation, what instructions were you given by Embassy? Did they tell anything about visa, tickets, etc..? I was not told anything yet... Embassy sent me Agreement with MEXT, I signed it and sent the original back. I haven't heard from them since that... although I sent a mail to embassy girl, but she hasn't answered yet...
neuro11, there is no anything outrageous in MEXT pledge. Ordinary conditions, like I must obey all the rules of university and devote myself to my research, I must refrain from violating Japanese rules and regulations, accept responsibility for any expenses incurred beyond those covered by scholarship and so on, so on... It is in both English and Japanese, so I think it is easy to understand the meaning...
Hi, embassy also asked me to visit them and sign some papers. I was wondering what are those and now assume they asked me to sign Agreement. Its a bit far from my city and so din visit yet. did you read the agreement?? what was written?? anything outrageous??
You might want to check your embassy's website re required documents for visa, e.g. photos, certificates, etc. if it is far from your city, better have them handy when you visit them. just a friendly reminder.![]()
