Just curious if anyone else feels this much seismic/geological activity is normal, abnormal, inconsequential, the beginning of something, related to planet-wide changes, unimportant, etc., and most of all, if anyone living in Tokyo feels 'the big one' is imminent?

I think the earthquakes are something to be concerened about. I'm not sure if it is because of changes in the world (natural or man-made), but I think the sheer amount of earthquakes are abnormal.

I'm worried to death about my friends in Tokyo and my family in California. A really bad one hits Cali and I just know its going to turn into 'The Road Warrior' down there.

So far, Earthquakes are mostly unpredictable when they hit. It could be a minor upswing in the frequency in earthquakes in major areas, or it just could be that they happen to hit some bad spots recently. There isn't anything magical or Armageddon-like about it.

That said, earthquakes are still my biggest fear in Japan.

not at all,there are many active volcanos under water,in the oceans so many lands created by volcano.

I second the motion for dropping an ice bomb just cause it sounds cool to do.

We have several active volcanos in the neighborhood, and seem to get an ash fall over Southcentral Alaska about once a decade. Last time was just a bit over a year ago. And yes, it does shut down air travel.

Then when it's all over, we have to go change the air filters in our vehicles.
