It's there, under christinaity, or isn't catholism christian by your standards? You follow the teachings of a man who might not have existed who peiople called Christ, hence the term christian. If I had to put all denominations up the list would be thousands of chioces long. Are you even aware that christianity, alone, has over 30 000 different sects/cults,denominations?

I consider myself very lucky not to be infused (woo BS alert) by a mytholgial, bi-polar, bloodthirsty, tyrant of a being that for some bizarre reason you think is good. Maybe you should sit down and read the bible and count how many people god and his fanatical followers have slaughtered compared to the devil.

Just saw a comedy thing on youtube. (I'd post here but I don't want to derail the ENTIRE thread.) It pretty much went along the lines of:

Like Islam there are two or more ways but the common is ( Suuni & Shiite ) and there are big differents between them but it doesn't matter here,Christianity is the name of Cathlic - Portestant ,,,,etc.

I don't know if faith is infused by God, some other supernatural entity, or by some internal psychological state; but there is no denying that it's a very real, spiritual experience for those who have had it. Our son is convinced that he was visited by Jesus in his mid-teens, and his Christian faith remains unshakable to this day.

Anyone else ever read Mark Twain's "Letters from the Earth"? The devil is witing letters about what he finds on earth, and the absurdity of some of God's tenets. Pretty funny stuff.

I guess Atheist most closely describes my beliefs (atheist isn't quite accurate though, as some Taoists, Buddhists, and perhaps other beliefs can be considered as a lack of belief in god or gods). I can see that the Buddhists probably have one of the best set of techniques for attaining what I see as the way to both happiness and morality, that being meditation, but I wouldn't call myself Buddhist as I just can't believe in rebirths. One life, one go, and hope you're lucky enough to either be born with a natural inclination to happiness, or find the techniques to get there along the way.

hello there...as for me...I'm Muslim, I believe in god and the prophet but I'm against all these close minded ideas of men being able to do everything while women have to cover up and stay home so that men wont get horny and start doing taboos, it is sad to see what ppl think of Islam nowadays and to be honest I don't blame them, coz Islam took a weird turn to be for hot blooded people filled with rage and stupid kamekazi ideas >_<

God is dead and prophets are and were very clever men but that´s about it.
Prohibited food mostly points to economical interests.
For example most of mohammed followers made their living by herding cattle and goats and/or sheep.
Pork is cheaper to mass produce so it would have ment a theat to their economical power which during mohammeds time was mainly dependent on land,cattle and crops.
So what do you do?
You call it dirty or non kosher or what not.
Every religion has similar examples of exploiting spirituality to secure personal power I just picked this at random.
If asked I will give more examples.
I don´t wish to personally offend anyone I just can´t really see why any spiritual person woul need a religion.

Anyway, I'm an atheist! I for one follow a completely logical and rational point of view. Meaning if I cant see, touch or hear something, then its really not there. Sounds silly, but its just how I feel. I've weighed up the points that can confirm or disprove a belief in a God(s) but Im afraid everything directs me towards disapproval I cannot believe in something on blind faith alone.
Don't get me wrong though, I envy someone who can have comfort in knowing that they know true to themselves that there is life after death. But I also detest religion, presuming it to be the root of all evil.
That's just my two pence

I'm agnostic. There is a lot of evidence for stuff like ghosts (possible proof of an afterlife), gods/higher powers, spirits, demons etc, but there is no solid proof.

When you become an athiest, you are taking a very strong stance on the matter by saying not only "i do not believe in religion" but also "i don't think there is anything more to mundane reality than mundane reality, life & death is a black & white matter, there are no high powers affecting is or judging us etc". While there may not be any solid proof to say a god/s exist, IMO you can also equally strongly argue that there is no solid proof to say a god/s does not exist.

So i prefer the agnostic stance- i keep my perspectives open about these sorts of matters, as there is no solid proof either way to prove or disprove the existence of god/spirits/demons/afterlife/reincarnation etc. I am someone though who prefers to follow more scientific lines of thought, although i also think there is much we cannot scientifically explain yet and much that will probably eventually be scientifically explained. I do think that all major religions are flawed though and i do have some major disagreeances in some of what they preach etc.

Its not easy though to just say "I believe in this" without saying why. If people are being civil towards each other, then whats the harm in saying why you believe in what you believe in? Otherwise the thread is not much of a discussion. No one appears to be going on a crusade here to convert others to their way of thinking or rudely bash others way of thinking etc.

The poll includes non-theistic views. Without giving reasons for why one does not believe in certain things, it is impossible to provide any reasoning for those who take negative views and considering that this is the Serious Discussion subforum, it is hard to believe that the OP intended there to be an absurdity whereby persons of negative views are expected to perform the impossible. I agree with Tokis-Phoenix.
