You've done no such thing. You posted some quotes which are supposed to support scientific findings which they in no way support. If the actual knowledge is there in the Qur'an , why is it written in vague terms that are open to interpretation? You posted a diagram of the skin. Why isn't that diagram in the Qur'an if the knowledge is there?

Dr. Muhammad Rasjidi, former Professor for Islamic Studies at McGill University and former Indonesian Minister for Religious Affairs describes the kind hermeneutics you expect us to swallow as "a half-baked mish-mash of pseudo-science and pseudo-exegesis". I have to say I agree with him.

I'm an atheist. I already posted the evidence that this is the only rational belief.

What is your religion ? why ?

However, you will not be "with me". Is it possible to become an atheist in Egypt? Is it even possible for you to be anything but a Muslim? This comes round to the real reason you are a Muslim: because you were born in Egypt to a Muslim family.

oh dear brother, that's true that we must remind them about the truth, but we don't have to force them
we can't give them hidayah, Allah is the only one who can do that

okay mr. and mrs. of non-Moslem
hear this carefully, if you want a scientific proof that absolutely miraculous
do you know that the moon had been split in two and then rejoined back
NASA took the picture of it and proved that it's a fact
you can search for it in google
do you know who did that.?
the one who did that is Rasulullah, he showed the kaffir his miracles, with Allah permission, Rasulullah split the moon in two, then he made them rejoined back
some of the kaffir followed the Rasulullah, but some of the other kept their disbelieve, and they kept denying it even Rasul showed them his miracle

I accepted a poster's invitation and Googled this "moon split in two" claim. There are a lot of Muslim sites showing photos of fault lines on the moon's surface, which are claimed to be proof of such a split. I note that there are also fault lines on earth and other planets and moons, but no one is claiming that those bodies were once split in two.

NASA itself says that evidence suggests that the moon was split apart from the earth in an early collision with another planet. NASA - LUNAR DATA SUPPORT IDEA THAT COLLISION SPLIT EARTH, MOON

I cannot find anything from NASA, or another reputable science source, saying that the moon was ever split in two, then rejoined. I have to conclude that the claim lacks any real basis, unless perhaps people at the time misperceived the moon's image through some mirage caused by atmospheric conditions or lighting.

In the future, please support such claims with links to reputable sources. I won't waste more time looking up unsubstantiated claims.

Although I'm agnostic because it's currently impossible to prove or disprove the existence of a creator, my main reason for not being religious is the fact that I'm not going to worship omnipotent beings if they would actually exist, simply because I don't care.

Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment. Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise. (56) And as for those who believe and do good works, We shall make them enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow - to dwell therein for ever; there for them are pure companions - and We shall make them enter plenteous shade. (57) surat al-nsaa
The sensation of skin pain
It was not clear then that there were specialized nerves in the body responsible for transporting all kinds of pain and other sensations, until recently when anatomy has discovered the role of specialized nerve endings in transporting all different kinds of pain.
Does the Koran say that "there are specialized nerves in the body responsible for transporting all kinds of pain and other sensations"? All I see is a statement that seems to indicate that pain is felt through skin. Nothing impressive.
Your other example is the same. You only need to climb up a mountain to feel your "chest narrow, tight as if you were climbing up to the sky", because you're actually doing so in a way.
Nice try. Though I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't choose more impressive examples that I've been presented with sometime ago... which were ultimately debunked either by me, or by other people, for several reasons:
1- All Koran verses or hadiths I've seen so far, which are supposed to contain "scientific miracles" were too vague, and could be interpreted in many different ways. Somehow the interpretors chose the meaning which suited their purposes best, and which is in many instances the least likely. Either these people are purposefully doing so, or their brain is playing tricks to them. The phenomenon is called apophenia.
Apophenia is the experience of seeing patterns or connections in random or meaningless data. The term was coined in 1958 by Klaus Conrad,[1] who defined it as the "unmotivated seeing of connections" accompanied by a "specific experience of an abnormal meaningfulness".
Indeed, it's not that difficult to make a large number of vague statements and hope that some of them would turn out to be true, especially if you have an army of ardent believers who will look into every detail and seek every possible interpretation to make it forcibly so.
2- Koran isn't the only old text which seems to contain "scientific miracles". For example, as noted by Richard Carrier, in De Rerum Natura (on the nature of things) a poem written by Lucretius centuries before the Koran, Lucretius mentions many scientific concepts and laws that would only be discovered in the 17th century and later: the law of Inertia, Rain cycle, light being composed of particles, earthquakes caused by slipping fault lines, etc... Does this make Lucretius my prophet and Epicurus (from which Lucretius took his statements) my god? Like I'll explain in several lines, certainly not.
Another example: In his book "The Tao of Physics", the American physicist Frijtof Capra points out to the fact that many concepts and established facts in contemporary physics, especially quantum mechanics, such as Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, the dual nature of light, etc. are present in Eastern mystic religions such as Buddhism and Taoism. Again that makes neither Buddhism nor Taoism the "one true religion".
Actually I wouldn't be surprised that one would find "miracles" and "predictions" seemingly relevant to our time in any old text.
3- Many supposed scientific miracles were actually common knowledge of the time, mainly due to the Hellenistic influence on the Middle East, which had its impact on both Judaism and Christianity. Koran has merely copied the ideas in vogue at that time from Jewish and Christian sources, and popular knowledge.
4- Koran has many scientific errors, and there are many examples (some were given by Mycernius earlier, but you totally ignored them). Here's another one from me:
The Koran says that the universe was created in six days...
Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds! (7:54)
Link to sourate 7.
... and somewhere else it says that each day in Allah's measurement is 1000 earthly years => the universe as it is now (Earth included) was created in 6000 years!!?
You could jump in and say "But Allah also said in another verse that a divine day is equivalent to 50.000 earthly years". OK, let's ignore the new contradiction (1000=50.000?!) and suppose that it's 50.000 years instead of 1000. That would still make it 300.000 years, it's less than 1/3 the time it took for the first generation of stars to come to being (ours belongs to the second generation), and less that 1/300 the duration of the formation of our solar system.
Let's stretch things further and suppose a divine day could be anything from 0 to infinity; even then, Koran seems to have failed to give the right order and proportions:
Say (O Muhammad, unto the idolaters): Disbelieve ye verily in Him Who created the earth in two Days, and ascribe ye unto Him rivals? He (and none else) is the Lord of the Worlds. (41:09)
He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask; (41:10)
Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; (41:12)
Link to sourate 41.
First, if we consider the verses chronologically, Earth seems to be created before the rest of the universe!!?
Second, it took Allah 2 days to create Earth and 2 more days to adorn it with mountains and such, i.e. 4 days among the 6. 2/3 of the duration for Earth and 1/3 for the rest of the universe!!
5- Like I pointed out earlier (though I didn't explain), the very reasoning behind the claims of miracles in Koran is flawed. Let's suppose, for the sake of argument, that there are scientific facts in the Koran. First you'd need to prove, with a feeble probability of error, that there's no way those facts could've been discovered, or guessed, in the earlier times (A). Unfortunately for you, there were many civilizations that existed before Islam with scientific traditions in the region (mainly the Greek, but also Babylonians, Indians, etc.). There's little chance anything presented in Koran doesn't come from earlier discoveries or theories.
But just to move on, let's suppose that you did prove statement (A). Our next move would be to prove that there are no ideas presented in Koran which contradict current scientific knowledge, otherwise we would fall in case (1), i.e. that Koran simply makes a large number of statements hoping that some of them would be proven true someday. Again unfortunately for you, I did find at least one example of propositions in Koran which contradict modern scientific knowledge. But like I said in an earlier post, I never state anything with 100% certainty: maybe Mycernius and I misunderstood something. Let's move on! What do we have now? We have a book that was written 14 centuries earlier, which contains scientific knowledge unknown and unknowable at that time, and no contradiction with modern science. Does that necessarily imply that it was authored by a supernatural being called Allah? Not at all!! There are many other possibilities which could answer our hypothetical question: as ridiculous and far-fetched this may seem, it would be more plausible to think that Muhammad was abducted by aliens or came in contact with an advanced secret civilization, who taught him his supposed scientific knowledge. You're simply picking the answer matching your purposes, although it is the one that requires the greatest leap of faith.
In the end, the argument of Koranic scientific miracles is just one the greatest epics of paralogism and logical fallacies. Take that as a consolation.
Lastly, you may be seeing a miracle in that verse in the first quote, but what strikes most me is how vindictive and cruel your god is in torturing people, simply for denying his supposed existence. That is by no means a merciful god...
hello Zoon van Ijs
if you wan't me to give Koran scientific miracles . i can
but you have to know if you was really want to Know the truth you should To see well and focus on what i will say .
I hope you did the same and read my post.

Hmmm. If an omnipotent being is so insecure that he/she/it requires our worship to boost his/her/its self-esteem, then why doesn't he/she/it make his/her/its desires clear to all of us?

that is what i am tallking about

THE SUN'S TRAJECTORY

It is stressed in the Qur'an that the Sun and Moon follow specific trajectories:

It is He Who created night and day and the sun and moon, each one swimming in a sphere. (Qur'an, 21:33)

The word "swim" in the above verse is expressed in Arabic by the word "sabaha" and is used to describe the movement of the Sun in space. The word means that the Sun does not move randomly through space but that it rotates around its axis and follows a course as it does so. The fact that the Sun is not fixed in position but rather follows a specific trajectory is also stated in another verse:

And the sun runs to its resting place. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. (Qur'an, 36:38)

These facts set out in the Qur'an were only discovered by means of astronomical advances in our own time. According to astronomers' calculations, the Sun moves along a path known as the Solar Apex in the path of the star Vega at an incredible speed of 720,000 kmph. In rough terms, this shows that the Sun traverses some 17.28 million km a day. As well as the Sun itself, all the planets and satellites within its gravitational field also travel the same distance.

how can our prophet know that from more 1400 a year
please little reflection

akhee, you know much about science
maybe i can learn some from you
not like those people who keep defying, they know that those info are truth
but they keep their disbelieve
in Islam, those people like that is much worse than cattles

"Although I'm agnostic because it's currently impossible to prove or disprove the existence of a creator, my main reason for not being religious is the fact that I'm not going to worship omnipotent beings if they would actually exist, simply because I don't care."
do what you wish, you're the one who gonna regret it

"Hmmm. If an omnipotent being is so insecure that he/she/it requires our worship to boost his/her/its self-esteem, then why doesn't he/she/it make his/her/its desires clear to all of us?"
is this what you're thinking.?
do you know what's the meaning of Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim.?
both of those meaning are referring to His 'love'

Ar-Rahman is one of ninetynine Asma'ul Husna
its simple meaning is, Allah will give His love to every single of His creation, fairly
it's happening in this world

Ar-Rahim is one of ninetynine Asma'ul Husna as well
its simple meaning is, Allah will give His love to only those who obey His orders in the world, this is just for shalih and shalihah, of course only if they have iman in their heart

for Zoon van Ijs
if you need the details, you can find it by yourself, Qur'an is just showing the core of all knowledge
what's your eyes for.? what's your hearing for.? what's your hand for.? what's your leg for.? and what's your heart for.?
Allah gave those to human aren't just for display
we have to use it to look for the truth

and about the moon, believe it or not, the photos is from NASA
and a line which encircling the moon can't be explained by any scientific ideas
if it's a lie you're talking about, you're talking about yourself

that is what i am tallking about

Ok, now, let me change my attack, then. You went and assumed that everyone on the boards would be male. Hot clever.

In any case, two bans are due for proselytising.

You don't scare me with that kind of talk for one second. And also, if what you're saying is true, than your 'god' is a demon, and most certainly not a good person. Actually not unlike the Nazis in certain ways.

Bah, people and their backward religions. When will they see that religion is nothing but a way to control peoples lives? I should know better than to post in threads like :o

Nice "re-interpretation," but it sounds like all he is saying is that the sun and moon orbit the earth, but you have switched it around to say something different. You can re-interpret some vague confusing statement something into almost anything. Religions are almost FOUNDED on doing this crap.

By the way, interpretation isn't evidence, it's your opinion. Again, please learn what evidence is. I've taught 8 year olds in grade school about this sort of critical thinking and they succeed better than you.

Seriously, all you're doing here is proselytizing religious crap. That is not what serious discussion is for, and nor is JRef.

1) You've shown the purpose of this thread isn't an inquiry into other's religions, but just a place to spread your own beliefs.

2) You've shown you can't understand what evidence is.

3) You've shown you don't understand the basic's of science and reasoning.

4) You've shown you can't accept those who think differently and don't agree with your belief.

We aren't converting or going to worship your invisible super daddy, so go elsewhere. Go to some Islam forum if you want to scream at people about your crazy beliefs in some superstition. You'll at least be talking with people who think similarly, since you've already proven you can't handle the idea that people think differently than you.

Seriously, learn what science is kid. Do yourself a favor. Those "lines" could be there for many reasons, and I'm sure there are a couple theories about what caused them. However, scientists don't just declare "THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!" because they aren't so arrogant and stupid as people who are religious who declare that they know EVERYTHING from a book of scribblings by reinterpreting almost anything they want. Scientists take evidence that is testable and accumulate this evidence to form theories which are the best explanations they have of what may have happened. There are time when these theories are incorrect and replaced by more accurate and better supported theories.

The moon was not magically split in two and then put back together again. Open a damn science book for once and go to college or something. I've read more plausible sci-fi stories. If I'm correct and that is what you are saying, and you literally believe without any scientific evidence (or even using your brain that would tell you that doesn't make sense), then you are an absolute idiot and need to be trapped in a room with science books till you have a basic education.

Scientific method. Google it.
