What would you be?

Just an idea that I had this morning: if your current religion/ideology did not exist, what would you be? Or in other words, what would be your second choice for a religion/ideology?
It would be better if you give justification to your choice.

And please do not choose another sect or denomination within your religion (if you have any), like Catholicism/Protestantism, or Sunni/Shia. Though if you choose a different religion, you can give as many specifications as you see fit.

Well, I guess if I wasn't an atheist I would be whatever religion was imposed on me by those preventing me from being an atheist ;-)

But allowing your hypothetical situation, I guess I would choose my old village chapel, which is Methodist Christian. I grew up in a small rural village, and I have only happy memories of chapel, ignoring the boring sermons ;-)

Although my family moved away from the village several years ago, my parents still have some links there, and I've been back a few times. There's never any resentment that we left. Last time I was there was about a year and a half ago, and I was treated like I never left, from the social perspective. They didn't push any religious crap on me at all.

The reason I went back was for a community event, and I think that's the strength of the chapel. They put community involvement ahead of rigid dogma. They even let the village pub advertise in their newsletter

Many of the values I have now I owe to that chapel. The emphasis was always on Jesus as a person, with the most important teaching being "love your neighbour". We were taught to put kindness ahead of everything. They did such a good job of promoting Jesus that I still have a fondness for that character that I doubt I will ever lose.

My experience with religion and family wasn't good at all, so I'd certainly look for anything else just to piss them off!!

Hmm, I'm not sure what I would choose actually, and I'm glad that I don't have to. I'd probably opt for an old pagan religion with a matriarchal system (let women in charge of everything so I can laze around the whole day! ), myriads of gods, and mesmerizing rituals!!

Well,this remind me the status before Islam when Arab worship the rocks !!
Some of them were Christians - Jewish - and Abrahamic so naturally i will be worshipping a big stone or rocks around the house...But I think i will be Christian from the group who don't consider Jesus as God ( that group was found in Europe but they have been killed to the last one ).

If I wasn't a uh... wait what am I? *thinks*... weak agnostic? I dunno, but if I wasn't what I am now I'd proberly be involved with buddhism since I've always had an interest in it somewhat.
