Advanced Japanese self-teaching site

Does anyone know where a self-teaching advanced Japanese learning site is? I learned basic and intermediate Japanese by reading Gene Nishi's "Japanese Step-by-Step," if that helps.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "advanced Japanese", but it sounds like you've hit a place I did some time ago. It seems like after a certain point, there is no formally structured way to learn Japanese as a foreigner.

Here's what I did: I started reading books and tried to apply my Japanese in life. There will always be new things to learn about the language, but after a certain point, the best way to learn more is to use it. In your usage of Japanese, you will be able to find out what you are lacking and then be able to work on that area.

I would write things in Japanese if I were you and perhaps offer them for correction, to somewhat more directly answer your question. Why not start some threads in Japanese? I'm sure our Japanese members would be more than happy to help you!

Thanks for the reply. By advanced, I mean more things about complex sentences and the like.

I already use Japanese at home very often, mostly to annoy my younger brother (he HATES Japanese).

I am lacking in two things: Vocabulary (I only know, maybe, 150 words?), and particles.

It's not exactly "step-by-step", but I run a website that deals with a lot of issues that are important for advanced learners. Check it out here if you're interested. We cover topics like kanij and word etymology.

No offence but I think if you only know around 150 words then "advanced" isn't really the word you should be using. I estimated the other day that I know around 3000 words and I'm still more like an upper-beginner just moving into intermediate Japanese.

Anyway, why don't you try JapanesePod101.com? You'll learn lots of good vocab from their lessons.
