Yep yep! I haven't followed it, just know about it. Apparently he's made up this whole little universe thing and all the related albums and movies and books kind of follow the vampiric characters he's made up within that universe.

I'd like to find out what all is within the project so I can learn the whole story. Or, at least, however much of the story he's finished so far.

Really? I just thought he loved vampires and all things like that. I didn't know it was all conected. Thats cool. I would also like to know the story.. hmm.

I'm doing some research...and I can't seem to find any concrete stuff about his Moon Project. Lots of places mention it, but neglect to explain it. These are the things I've found out:

Moon (album), Moon Child (movie), Moon Child: Requiem (novel), and Crescent (album) all make up a "chapter" of the Moon Project story. Black Stone (single) and Diabolos (album) supposedly start a prequel to the first group, and this chapter is supposed to end around 2008.

In the now defunct JRock Ink magazine (now Purple SKY), it's also mentioned that there's six singles, three tours, and a bunch of interviews and photobooks included in the first chapter (meaning the chapter started with the Moon album), but I couldn't manage to find any information about those things that linked them to the project.

There's also a book documenting his Moon Project, but the only link I could find to it was for Amazon.co.jp, so I have no idea exactly what it has in it (haven't learned japanese yet ).

But...there you go. Whether or not there's going to be more to the story after this is beyond me. I had to go through three different sources just to put that much together. Hope that helps everyone's curiosity along a bit.

I wonder if the story actually makes SENSE. Like. It is an actual story, or if Gackt's just being artistic and weird and throwing 'blood' and 'vampire' into a lot of his work.

as im reading the info here, im thinking he will go on strong till 2008, ending it with a bang. After that he might need a break, even for him working like he does could never be good for ones health.
maybe that he will work on other projects after, like yoshiki of x-japan...

It was learned on the 14th (of August) that YOSHIKI (40), formerly of XJAPAN, will form a new band with popular singer Gackt (age unannounced). Activities will start in 2007. A U.S. tour is planned, and it appears that it will become a dream project.
For the first time, the big 2 of the "visual kei rock" world will join hands together. YOSHIKI will be in charge of drums and piano, and Gackt will be in charge of vocals. Composed of approximately five people, it appears that it will become a superband you could call "XJAPAN the 21st Century Edition."
The composition of music will start by the end of this year, and recording will start next year. After that, a live tour is planned. Famed artists are lined up for guitartist and bassist, and along with the band's name, will be announced consecutively.
The two met five to six years ago. Their interaction started when YOSHIKI invited Gackt to his house in Los Angeles. In around 2002, they had gotten along well and said "let's organize a band together", but both of them had started up new projects (at the time) and so they waited for the right opportunity to come.
YOSHIKI's last full-blown activity with a rock band was with XJAPAN, which broke up on New Years Eve 1997.
On the other hand, Gackt first started activities in 1994 with the band Malice Mizer. After withdrawing (from Malice Mizer) in January of 1999, Gackt took a big leap forward as a solo artist and has even expanded his activities to acting, etc. YOSHIKI came to sense his talent, similar to his own, in that "he has the capability of handling various kinds of musical instruments."
The initiation of the new band was also spurred by the fact that Japanese visual kei rock, as a part of anime culture, has cult popularity in the States. On the fifth of this month (August), the east coast's biggest anime event "Otakon" took place in Baltimore, Maryland, and YOSHIKI was invited as a special guest- "legendary artist". A three-hour line formed for the 2000 capacity hall. Having received a positive response there, the new band will develop a tour in the States, and plans for domestic activities will be be considered after that.

The moon project is nothing consistent. It is composed exactly by that: the albums, the concerts, photo albums and else. Mmm.. I'm afraid you must have the originals so you can start to connect them, cos the notes he writes and the pictures in them are part of the story. Also have to pay attention to the lyrics, cos they're suppoused to tell the story like a novel and the music is an important part of it, like in a movie (an american movie, at least).

About Yoshiki-sama and Gackt, i have understood it's only a project, not a firmly declared band. Anyways, its cool!!!

i don't think your right, but im not sure, cuz i -think- i heard he did some drums for something, but its kinda fuzzy. it might have said he didn't...but my brain is leaning twoards did. but i also think i remember hearing him say no drumbs ever after hide too...

so basicly, i just made a pointless post.
