Without more context hard to say. Maybe Tofu is a better substitute.Okay, i have an idea of what this means, but what does this literally translate too? 豆腐の方が 切り替えがあるぜ。
It supposed to translate to: "Even Tofu is harder to slice"Without more context hard to say. Maybe Tofu is a better substitute.
Yes. I'll copy it again right now. 豆腐の方が 切り替えがあるぜ。Did you copy and paste directly? I don't think you can get "slice" from 切り替え although 切る itself can mean slice or cut.
Ok well I don't see how to get that translation but I'm also not a native speaker of Japanese.Yes. I'll copy it again right now. 豆腐の方が 切り替えがあるぜ。
The context warrants it. This line is said when Genji kills an enemy using swift strike. (A lightning fast strike with a katana)It could have something to do with a high turnover rate for tofu? Kind of similar to 頭の切り替えが速い
Here's what on online dictionary has for kirikae (切り替え)
"Even tofu is harder to slice" is definitely not what your sentence means literally. That could possibly be a good translation if the context warrants it, but that is impossible to tell just based on the sentence alone.
No no, that's what it was supposed to mean. I know it doesn't mean that. Do you want picture proof? As already pointed out, your sentence doesn't mean "Even Tofu is harder to slice".
It must be a mishearing of 豆腐の方が切り甲斐があるぜ。, not "kirikae" but "kirigai".
There's either a typo in the original or a mistranslation.
The picture only confirms what you've already shown us. What is the source for the picture? Is this from the game itself? A fan site?@mdchachi check that picture.
The game Wikipedia, not fandom. The picture only confirms what you've already shown us. What is the source for the picture? Is this from the game itself? A fan site?
I'm not disagreeing with him, more saying what its supposed to translate to (according to Gaku Space, another native Japanese speaker), rather than what it actually means.FYI, @Toritoribe is a native Japanese speaker. When in doubt about the Japanese language, his opinion carries more weight than any of ours.
No no, Gaku space is Genji voice Actor. What is the source of the game wiki? Gaku Space wrote it?
Hmmm, I think it was the VAs that translated, I would imagine them being fluent if they didn't speak the languages natively. If we can't get to the underlying source all we can do is conclude that the Japanese and English phrases you provided do not match. Somebody made a mistake somewhere.
