Learning the Prefectures of Japan

Hello

I am very much into geography and like making small quiz games. So I made one that helps learning the prefectures of Japan:

You can change the learning language to Japanese as well (via Language)!

I think that this game is a well-done game.
I think that I can classify it a little more about the area.
The Chubu District parts in the Tokai region and the Hokuriku region.
In addition, Hokkaido some are classified, too.

Just a small update:
I added "difficulty levels" to the prefectures quiz.
Now you don't have to learn all 47 prefectures at once.
It is possible to learn only Kantō and Chūbu region first, then all of Honshū, and finally all prefectures.

not sure if you can add a timer element to it, but I used to play a game to identify the prefectures and I'd try to see how far under a minute I could get

I have some other thoughts for ways to expand the games, like you can add a LOT more cities (but the map would have to have more definition), and then the quiz could provide some details of the city when you click on it.. you can also quiz on the prefectural seat of each prefecture (or highlight a prefecture and then ask the user to type in the name). Other increasingly difficult quizzes could be for mountains or bodies of water or rivers, famous temples or locations, or even "listen to a snippet of this area's dialect, and then identify where it's from"

A timer is a good idea, I'll put it on my todo list.
I do not have too many quiz games about Japan yet. But I plan to make a quiz about the Kantō region or the Greater Tokyo area.

Under a minute...!?

That means that you're typing out (or pointing to / mouse-clicking?) one prefecture's name at an average of less than 1.25 seconds...!

I know my prefectures pretty well, but even if I weren't identifying them and were simply just typing them out or clicking them as fast as I could (and I think I usually type at upwards of 100-120 WPM and move my mouse decently fast), that would be a serious challenge to get below one minute at all without my hand slipping or whatever.

Incidentally, this is a fun quiz, @romulus.

I tried taking it three times. The first time I got 43/47 every so often mistaking Kochi for Ehime, Oita for Saga, etc.
The second time I got 46/47 with a finger slip.
The third time I actually managed not to mix anything up.

My recommendation for how to remember the prefectures is to drink at least one glass of local sake in all of them.

similar style to this one, it gives you the name and you click on the map.

I can't remember my best time but when I'd drill it I could go pretty quick and harness those old counter strike FPS skills to click accurately. Of course now I can't find the exact game that I got comfortable playing, but this one has a timer on it, not too bad after a few goes: Japan: Prefectures - Map Quiz Game - Seterra

but that brings up a good point, it would also be a good quiz to highlight a prefecture (or city) on the map and ask the user to type in the answer in either romaji, hiragana or kanji. This quiz has a "type" mode too, which takes a little longer (and more opportunity to flub the spelling), but I managed to beat 2 minutes
