Searching for my brother

Hello,

My dad was stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict, approximately 1950. While there, he married and sired a son.

He returned home, leaving them behind.....

My brother and I wish to find our forgotten brother.

The only information I have is he was in, or near Osaka, his wife was named Sachiko, and their son was called Jimmy, after our dad.

I have dna on file with ancestry but have not been fortunate enough to have any hits. I'm guessing these tests aren't as popular in Japanese culture as they are here??

If anyone know a better way to get information, I would definitely be interested.

Unfortunately DNA testing in Japan is not popular. Without an address or Sachiko's surname, it will be very tough to make any progress. Did you look for marriage certificates? Or you don't think they registered the marriage?

I think that if he formally married, he would need to report it to his branch of the military and that would probably be a good place to start. As mdchachi, has said, without more information, it will be tough.

In particular, if his wife at the time took his surname, that would be in her family register, and presumably they divorced, so there should be some kind of paper trail. I assume that your father has passed on or this is a search that he is unwilling to help with- could you clarify this point.
