Your current feelings about Obama

What support I had for him was always tepid. And I still prefer him over the other possible candidate last election.

However, I now refer to him as "Baby Killer in Chief", which might confuse some people who think I must love him if I lean left.

No, I would have rather had Ron Paul, but in the end, he was not an option.

It just boils down to me hating Obama less than most others.

He did not close Guantanomo. He escalated Afghanistan. He continues with cowardly unmanned drone strikes that kill as many kids as adults in countries we are not even at war with. He continues the policy of secrecy of government and military affairs. He allows the government to go after Snowden and has not intervened for Manning.

Frankly, where is John Wilkes Booth when you need him?

I'm not American, but I guess I would have voted for him in the past two elections, simply because he represented the lesser evil compared to the Republican candidates, in particular last year's atavistic Romney/Ryan horror team. The initial euphoria however has gone. The NSA scandal, Afghanistan, Libya, and now the diplomatic blunder around Syria's chemical weapons have contributed to the shift in opinion, at least mine.

I guess the air is just too thin up there in the pantheon of world leaders, and a lot of their early idealism gets bogged down in the dirty swamp of political reality.

Of course you aren't. If you were, you would have said you hate him because being born outside the U.S. he has stolen the presidency. Or because he is a Muslim. Or because the economy is not good enough. Or because he said if he had a son, he would look like Travyon Martin.
But you are not American. So you say something sane.

were the big factor in getting him elected. Liberals wanting to say "Even a black man can be President in the US" helped a bit I think. It seems like elections are based on trends and fads lately. Next we have to have a woman President , so Hillery will probably get her turn. Bush Jr. had a rep as a war monger and being anti-Muslim and that may have played a part in getting Obama elected. Obama is more of a figurehead now with Congress running the country or more like NOT running the country. I think Congress members are now looked down as more slimy then a crooked used car salesman.

I understand and agree with all you wrote Uncle Frank, but the above threw for me for a loop.

I assume you mean it indirectly? In other words, those particular R's did not vote for him, but they induced others to vote for him?

Although, to be fair, I don't know what the alternative was. I know who I wanted, but I also know that people were afraid of the changes that Ron Paul threatened. My point about him was that the could not do the half of what he would have liked to do.

Anyway, I expected a lambasting from you on several points and am surprised not to get it. I guess you feel enough solidarity in our mutual contempt for Obama? Or have I misjudged you? I have to admit, you are something of an enigma to me. (I hope you find that complimentary!).

I think if we were neighbors we would have a love/hate relationship. I love cats. But I hate cops! Even your avatar makes me feel conflicted!

Like all politicians he serves the interests with which his own align. There is probably a clique of Democrats that's real pals with Obama, and they're creaming their collective pants. Factions warring for the ostensibly 'purified' right to rule is nothing new. We've had this **** for the past couple of thousand years. Obama is a tool with which to attract the support of the masses so that a faction of manipulators can hide behind the complexity of constitutional/legislative regulations and sell the lie that the turpitude with which they conduct their affairs is merely illusionary and a result of the complexity of the system. We've seen this before. People have justified the rule of parasites with spirits, divine right and other fanciful tales. Representative democracy is one of them.

So, yeah, Obama's a charismatic dude used to rally the rabble. His opponents and predecessors were and are the same, all that differs is the rabble that they attract. Ron Paul was the same, but he was peddling the 'I'm different' crap to an electorate that wanted to gorge itself on the 'same old', so he found his **** spurned.

If an honest politician belonging to an honest party seeking to improve education, welfare and intellect came along, championing the cause of an enlightened nation by trying to cut down on the 'feel good' that's everywhere, he'd have 10 people voting for him and it'd all be friends and family.

I feel Obama has become a bit of a non entity. I don't think he's running the show.

I can't really say much on Obama to be honest. I will say, though, that from what I've seen, he's a better choice than what we would have gotten with Romney. *Ugh*

Still, I never had high expectations for him and expected a mediocre at best presidency. Turns out that was the case (sub-par from what I've seen), so I can't say I was disappointed with his administration so much as never had much hope for it. Only thing that has stuck out as something I really liked from this administration is his support of the LGBT community, but it's far from the most pressing issues that should have been addressed during Obama's administration. Then again, I don't know much about politics and only recently started to follow it this month. Ask me after the House/Senate election of 2014 and I may have a much more informed opinion on Obama's administration (once I can get good understanding of the government and economic down).

[MENTION=33254]Derfel[/MENTION]: Couldn't have put it better. It also described the main reason why I was totally unmotivated to follow politics until just this month. And the only reasons why I'm doing so is because of necessity and because I don't follow video games anymore (retro gamer now) and as such, decided to follow something much more important.

The thing about following politics with a realistic view is that you're not stuck under the assumption that politicians are there to serve the best interest of citizens. It's been good for me in that it prevents me from raging a thousand sun every time Japan and China show the strained relationship between each other by acting like children and bad in that it puts into perspective just how depressing politics is.

Voted for him both times. I'm somewhat disappointed in his performance, *part* of which can be blamed on his being hamstrung by ridiculous Republican senators. Part.

Never liked Obama in the first place, I have no sympathy and respect for that guy, they're all puppets and doing what they're being told to do.
Though I feel like J.F.K was the best USA president they ever had.
He was the most courageous and honorable president. He stood against the government corruption.
He was murdered for exposing the truth.

I too, am disappointed with Obama.

He has been held back in almost everything he has tried to do by the appaling self interest of Republicans in COngress, but the continuance of Guantanamo Bay, the support for the NSA and the reckless drone strikes will forever stain his Presidency in my books.

I think in the end he just put all his efforts in getting the bill through that would guarantee all Americans access to health care.
The battle he had to fight to achieve this is completely baffling to us non AMreicans.
This will be his legacy ... an historically important one.

He should have achieved more however and perhaps should have trusted the AMerican people more and not compromised his ideals for the sake of achieving a second term.

In addition to the efforts in national health care mentioned above, I would also add the inclusion of LGBTs in the military, which is a huge step forward for the US and for us as a species.

I would also add the tentative but real steps towards decriminalization of marijuana.

He has made a lot of enemies with his policies against guns.

I think his strong actions against guns and the 2nd amendment are one of his worst areas. The NRA and gun owners spend a lot of money getting rid of Democrats who are anti gun. He has been great for gun sales and concealed weapons permits since he took office. In states like Maine where hunting & fishing and the great outdoors are part of life , he is really hated. I hate to say it , but I think Hillary is a shoe in for the next election.

I'll be blunt. He won because he's black. That's literally it. Young people in 2008, shamefully including myself, voted for the guy. He reminded people of Kennedy. He is a great public speaker. But he wasn't and isn't ready to be a leader of men. The NSA scandal is simply pathetic -- it shows how weak of a Prez he really is. He won't stand up to his own party -- or the GOP. He doesn't fight for what he believes in -- because he doesn't believe in anything. He strikes me as a major league narcissist and essentially a hollow human being. Heck at least Bush stood for something.

He's a victim of his advising staff. Keeping Bush's crooks in the DoD was his first and biggest mistake. His Presidency has and will prove to be a house of cards, an absolute scam. Change we can believe in? No way in hell.

I really don't know. I have mixed feelings. I just hope that the people that are prejudice will not start riots and trouble. We have alot of prejudice in this country.

Obama is real unpopular hereabouts these days. I hear a lot of people saying that Putin beat Obama up and took his lunch.
