Writing a diary in japanese.

Hey! I'm TKami and a fairly recent member here in the JRef forums. I joined in hopes of getting help in my selftaught Japanese. Previously I've used a site called "nihongo o narau" and various other sites.

I've decided to write a diary in as much Japanese as possible. I've already begun but I'm, more often than not, unsure on how and where to place words. To my aid I bought myself an "Oxfords Japanese Mini Dictionary". It's very helpful and only cost around 13€.

Anyways, I'd like to paste a few sentences for you to look at and pinpoint my mistakes. Thank you.

"にじゃうよっかにがつ。
きょうはすいようびだ。いちばんようびでした。
きょう、LONDONに、あねのいぬはいいでした。"

"24th of February.
Today is Wednesday.
It's been the best day ever.
Today in London my sisters dog has been good."

Additionally, are there any unwritten rules on how to write a diary in Japanese or is the "format" I use OK?

If you have any chance at all of digging out a native speaker I'd recommend it.

Yikes. Japanese dates are always year/month/day. "Ten" is じゅう.

きょうはすいようびだ。いちばんようびでした。

さいこうのひでした, maybe

きょう、LONDONに、あねのいぬはいいでした。"
Today in London my sisters dog has been good."

That's good to know. いいでした is grammatically wrong, should be よかったです but the meaning you are seeking might be expressed by いいこでした.

Additionally, are there any unwritten rules on how to write a diary in Japanese or is the "format" I use OK?

Sorry, but I have no idea, since I have never written or seen a Japanese diary.

I highly recommend to use lang-8, you can put your entries (diary) and native people of the language you used make corrections.

What significance does the か here after せつやく bare? I would think you could say "You are a せつやくじんです or something similar, am I (most likely) wrong?

That's a suffix for a specialist/professional, the person who has the tendency of ~, the person who is in the state of ~.

I would think you could say "You are a せつやくじんです or something similar, am I (most likely) wrong?

You can't say せつやくじん. か is the correct suffix for せつやく.

I see, thank you. I suppose "きょうは、いちばんようびです" is somehow wrong or awkward to say in Japanese and I should instead use the above mentioned way? )

ようび means "a day of the week."

きょうはなんようびですか？
What day of the week is it today?
きんようびです。
It's Friday.

Maybe you wanted to say きょうは、いちばんよいひです?
