Would you check my sentences?

As to 4②, would American people use this type of "yet" commonly?
 
It sounds ok. I'm not sure if it would be common. Probably more common is "He speaks little Japanese but he understands what I say."
 
Thanks, mdchachi. I used "yet" because I wanted the students to know this meaning of "yet".
