World Cup GERMANY 2006 Official Thread

I worry:unsure:
We had various problems in 2002 in the World Cup
A Japanese is mistaken for a Korean, and it may be assaulted😲

I'm glad to see a few others out there who enjoy soccer ( or 'football' if you will ).
My prediction Germany and England in the final, Germany will win.
Brazil being the world soccer powerhouse have good chances, however statistics are against them. Brazil have only ever won the world cup once when it has been held in Europe.

England in the final... based on what? Germany I understand, they play in their own country, and are just a shittie team, but why england?

lets hope that brazil will be kicked out in the half final or something

I think England have a well balanced team this time round, a great line-up. If all players are fit and in good form I would not be surprised if they got through to the final.
The only thing letting them down at this point, I think, Is the left side midfield. With beckham on the right side.
Rooney will either bring fortune or kill them.
I don't get a chance to follow international soccer so I'm not really sure where all the teams are at.
No matter what happens I have been waiting for almost 4 years for this. Bring it on.

World Football Cup 2006

The World Football Championship is the great sport holiday. Football is the best sport game of all (after ice hockey and women's beach volleyball). :)
Unfortunately, the Russian football team will not take part in it. Therefore, I shall support my favourite National football teams. During the European Football Championship I always support Scotland, Holland and England. However, during the World Football Championship I always support Brazil and Japan.

Thus, I would like to wish the Japanese football team good luck and winning the Championship. It would be the great final game between Japan and Brazil, would not it? :)

What are your forecasts? Who will be the champions?

As to me, I am 100 per cent sure that the Brazilian team is most likely to be the champions. Such names as Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Kaka, Kafu, and many others are self-explanatory, are not they?

In my opinion, the German, French, and English teams are highly unlikely to get to the ½ final. Although, the English team will be able to prove itself if traumatised Rooney can take part in the Championship and show his worth as he did it in the League. Frankly speaking, there are many good players in the English team: Lampard, Terry, Owen, Rooney, etc. Beckham is an idiot! :) Do you remember the European Football Championship game between England and Portugal? (I consider that game to have been the best football match of all times.) Do you remember what Mr. Beckham did with his penalty kick? I still hate him for that! :) Let him better do something beyond football and sport!

In conclusion, I would like to give my the most sincere wishes to the Japanese football team and the Japanese.

All the best,

Anton.

Japan and Brazil in de final would be great but I think that's a bit unrealistic.😊
Brazil will probably win the tournament, as they in pretty good shape and indeed have the best individual players. However, I hope that Holland wins it this time around. We should have won it back in '74 (no, I didn't see the match back then as I wasn't born yet, but still..), and the Dutch people are still waiting for justice to be served. We won the European cup in '88, in Germany, so a lot of us have the feeling of "we've been there before, and we can win again". My ultimate dream final would Holland against Germany, but Germany won't probably even make it to the second round now would they?
Even though I hope Holland is gonna win the W-cup, I am not certain.. Our coach Van Basten made some incomprehensible decisions regarding the selection of players, and although Holland had one of the best preliminary campaigns, it didn't look convincing to me.
Ah well, we'll see. Other favorites of mine are Argentine, and for personal reasons Italy. Oh yeah and Japan ofcourse. I definitely want to see Nakamura or Ono score against Brazil. :win:

Please use the search button Anton, this time I have merged the threads together, otherwise we will have a several threads about the same thing.

I changed my view a bit about The Netherlands, and about Japan. Yesterday the Netherlands played a really great match, even though it was like a B kinda team. So I think the change that they will come in the final will be 70procent, and the half final around 80procent.

Also Japan is able to get true the first round I think, if they play a draw, or lose from Brazil, and win from Croatia, and Australia.

Did anyone here see the Under 21 Europe Cup? The final was last Sunday, and guess what!? Holland won, against Ukraine!! Kinda late to post, but I thought someone could be interested..

Today Europe, tomorrow the world!! Hup Holland!! 😎

I have seen the match, which was especially the first half really good, second half was less good, but yeah Finals are there to win, arn't they hahahahaha :D

The world cup spirtit is coming up, in and around my streets peope have hung their orange flags outside. Hup Holland Hup, Don't leave the lion in his shirtttt.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but Japan is in the bracket of death with the top team in the world, Brazil and those hordes of one named players. If Nippon is still around after the first round, I'll be surprised. As for the U.S., as everyone knows, here in the States, soccer rates behind televised poker and professional wrestling in terms of popularity, but I'll tune in to see how the American team does in their bracket. How they were ranked fifth in the world I'll never know, but I figure they'll make it to the second round. From there? Who knows.

I think England has a chance and at least they can go through to last 16, that's for sure. 👍 👍

It'd be a near-miracle if Japan makes it to the second round indeed.. But we should support them nonetheless!! ニ稚ニ椎陳ーニ稚ニ椎陳ー窶愿コ窶怒ツ!ツ!
USA could just become the surprise of the tournament.. The US has always had a very healthy sport culture, so who knows?

So anyways, the opening match is coming up: Germany - Costa Rica. I'm off to town in minute to watch the match with friends in the pub.. But what do you think? I hope Germany does well (so when Holland eventually meets them further on in the tournament, it feels even better beating them haha), but I don't know.. I don't know a thing about Costa Rica either!! My wild guess would be 1 - 0 for Germany..

Well the World Cup started yesterday, and Germany have played a good openings match against Costa Rica with 4-2. See the match Detail here

But that wasn't the only game that was played yesterday, also Poland against Ecuador played against each other with the result that Ecuador have won with 0-2. more detail here

That makes the standing in group A:
Germany 3
Ecuador 3
Costa Rica 0
Poland 0

England won 1-0 with a little help from a Paraguayan. Enlgand not looking too impressive so far. Looking forward to Argentina's game late tonight. Anyone know what time that is on in Japan?

The U.S. doesn't play until Monday I believe. It'll be interesting to see if they can live up to the hype of being the fifth ranked team in the world, a ranking I find to be bogus since they're ahead of traditional powerhouses like England and France.

The FIFA ranking is flawed, so the U.S. being ranked fifth is bogus. The U.S. are considered by some to be a dark horse. They could do quite well in this tournament.

England indeed wasn't that great, but I didn't expected them to be that great now, I hope that when ROONEY is coming in, it will change.

I am also looking forward to see Argentina tonight, especially Because they are in the Death pool together with the Netherlands.

First half Japan- Australia, 1-0 for Japan :D

WOEHOE

I truly believe that Brazil will win the World Cup.

I watched the Germany VS. Costa Rica Game. I was quite entertained. It was a great match.

The USA will win the first game, face Brazil, and lose.

Here where I am. Our Soccer (football) team Real Salt Lake is facing Real Madrid on August 12th... I think on that day.
We are going to get destroyed!

The USA was totally humiliated...that was just a sad game to watch. Especially at 2 in the morning!

wow, so harsh on Japan hahaha.

What did you guys think of the match from the Netherlands and Serb&mon. I was at my dads place with 10 other people. Having a bbq in the garden watching soccer under the hot sun * how great can a last weekend in the Netherlands be.

I think we played pretty okay, not great, but we stoped Serb&mon from scoring, and Robben was the man :D:D plus Van Persie!

So what do you guys think about that match?

Well, it's not how you start, but how you finish, and the Aussies bushwhacked Japan in the last few minutes plus stoppage time for a 3-1 win. However, at least Japan wasn't embarrassed like the U.S. was against teh Czechs. UGH! Even the highlights were painful to watch!
