And anyways what do they have in Japan that's better than in the UK ?
I never get this, people from developed countries, EU, Australia, US, etc etc trying to quit and go to Japan because things there are so much better and what not, I mean sure if you like Japan there is an affinity there, but I don't get the part of going all out just to end up after many wasted sacrifices and what not to stay in Japan when one could have chaneled all that effort in his/her home nation and be in a better situation then a visa holder out in the streets of Japan.
I'd imagine it has something to do with a number of people liking Japan..? Just as you seem to prefer the UK, is it that unbelievable that some would prefer Japan?

I don't think it's too ridiculous. After all, you yourself joined and have accumulated a large number of posts on a forum for people with an interest in Japan. Are you a member of a EU interest forum of some kind (This one doesn't count, as it was only just recently - long after you joined - changed to a 'Eupedia' for reasons beyond my understanding.) It'd seem to me you'd have to have a love for Japan to want to join a forum completely (Well.. formerly.) dedicated to conversations about Japan. Correct?

On topic, I wouldn't marry to go to Japan. There are much more desirable ways in my grasp.

1) Not all people interested in Japan need to live there.
2) Not all people who want to live in Japan need to get married to stay there (there are, after all, also work, student, cultural, diplomatic, religious, entertainer and investor visas among others).
3) Not all people who get married want a visa. Fortunately, the vast majority still marry for love, not business.
4) There are other ways to get a visa to a country using dubbious reasons, such as being adopted by a Japanese national (and pay them money for that).
5) This thread is not just about Japan, but any country. I am sure more people get fake marriage to get into the US than Japan (and that's without counting all the illegal immigrants !).

All of that is nice, but it doesn't have anything to do with my post. I was simply responding to Duo acting as if it was ridiculous for someone to want to live in Japan. It's a country that has many points of interest, and that is why there are a number of people who would prefer Japan to the EU. Being baffled as to why people have a different opinion than himself, that is what I was responding to. I never said anything to the contrary of your points.

The first sentence of you reply said : "I'd imagine it has something to do with a number of people liking Japan". Then you wrote a whole paragraph about Duo participating in a Japan-related forum. So my first reply to you was "Not all people interested in Japan need to live there". It's not the first time I find you contradicting yourself (even denying what you wrote) once someone criticises your comments. That seems very hypocritical to me. Anyway I don't care, just wanted to let you know that it's a bit irritating to say one thing then claim you never siad it. It may work in a spoken conversation but not on a forum.

Oh god, you're so incredibly pompous. Haha..

Point number 1 was the only thing that really could be interpreted as having to do with my post. You seem to be ignoring the fact that you made a number of points that had nothing to do with what I was saying. But then you can't make a mistake. Anyway, here's the problem: You're simply focusing on the first sentence. I went on to say I was talking about people who would prefer Japan (Residence wise, as that was what he was talking about and I was responding to that.) not people who have an interest in Japan but don't want to go there. Get down off your high horse, seriously.

Please give me some examples of me denying something I said. And I'm being serious, I really do want you to give me examples, not just reply with some more condescending crap. Just give me some examples, please.

My point from 1 to 5 are connected to each others, as I take the last part of each point to start a new one, as a kind of escalation.

Please give me some examples of me denying something I said. And I'm being serious, I really do want you to give me examples, not just reply with some more condescending crap. Just give me some examples, please.

Cannot find the post I had in mind now, but your behaviour in this thread (in addition to being unnecessarily aggressive) was rather non-commital or slef-denying. Just a few examples :

And ahh you're getting me into this again.. I hate arguing.. Actually that's not true I actually enjoy it in some circumstances, like if the person even has a chance of seeing the light, but you don't seem to.. and now.. I don't feel like basically typing to a brick wall.

King of Tokyo said:
Like I said, It's a bit pointless to argue with someone who doesn't share the same views as you

Always the same kind of behaviour, trying to pick up a fight and blame it on others; saying you don't want to argue, when in fact you start the argument; then claim it's no need to argue once your argument is defeated, and call other "arrogant". If you want my opinion, you should assume more what you say, and not be so emotional in your replies by blaming others for disagreeing with you.

whops it seems that I have made some kind problem here :p

@ KOT, yes I do like Japan, it interest me, the culture, the history, the customs, the cities, landscape, so forth, and I want to visit and if had the chance maybe would live there for a while, y not. However, I feel that going to all that trouble for a visa is not worth it, especially when you are a resident of a big nation in the EU and that you have certain privileges. I mean this guy could go in spain or italy or what not way easier than in Japan. I'd say that I'm mature enough to realize that you can't just let something like this push you overboard in your life. I really like Italy, is probaply my favorite country in Europe, but I'm mature enough to realize that having to go to so much trouble to live there may not be worth it afterall. Pardon me from feeling a bit confrontational when ppl come here with the attitude that Japan is heaven. Ever since I've been here I hear things that describe Japan as the greatest place in the world and what not, and although I shared a bit of that stage initially, I just want people to see that Japan is a country like any other, with good and bad things, a normal country, and as Maciamo has pointed out in many of his posts, being a foreigner in Japan is not that easy, and he even speaks the language and is married to a Japanese woman. SO When I see such ideas ad to go through fake marriage and what not from a resident of the UK it just seems ridicolous to me seeing as people give their life so frequently to get what he has. But I mean hey if you wana throw away ur canadian residence as well for such ventures be my guest by all means and let us know how it turns out ;)

@Maciamo, truthfully the UK has never appealed to me, I don't know why, it just seems a bit like a grayish place :p, but I really want to go visit in the near future. So I'm not sayin it's better than Japan but..... still it couldn't be so bad especially now with the improved economy that they have. I have heard bad things about the food as well, but at least all the people from the UK that I've met have been very nice so that's a plus :p And thx for backin me up ;)

Wow, the response is big here, alright its not a preference whether you like where you are or not now currently living its a matter of wether you want to live in Japan.

Im in particular wouldn't mind going about and acquiring a visa to live in japan, but this does in no way concur that i dont like living in the U.K.,
in response to king of Tokyo,

duo said "And anyways what do they have in Japan that's better than in the UK ?"

Well, what do you want a list?,
i mean i wouldn't be on a forum discussing Japan if i didn't,

I stand by what King of tokyo was saying,

"It'd seem to me you'd have to have a love for Japan to want to join a forum completely (Well.. formerly.) dedicated to conversations about Japan. Correct?"

ahh soo true.

I like the last bit,

"There are much more desirable ways in my grasp."

I don't think that I'd have to be totally in love in japan like some of the people here, interested in it should suffice in my view. This is funny though, i didn't know that there segregrations in forums as well between 100% japan admirers, then 90% and so forth. The funniest thing even though is that I'm being questioned on my membership here by someone who has but 45 posts and by KOT who personally I handn't seen here for a long while, but who knows maybe his flame for japan was all of the sudden re-kindled.

Besides, today I'm more interested in conversing with the good members of this forum that stick around the more serious sections and the more fun ones like chit chat, serius discussions, eupedia forum, and what not. Now I'm being blamed for liking the people who hang out there.

hey noone is ruling things like that, i didn't know people choose who they talk to, thought people just voice there opinions and discuss,

Hey man,
I joined last year, my brother died a 2 months after i joined, he lived with his friends in Leeds, which is far away from where i live, i went to stay up there with his friend because i was the unlucky one chosen to sort his things out, and i've just arrived back a while ago, and excuse me for not rushing back on here, the tripe about re-igniting the flame of japan.
You know who i was planning to go to japan with? yeah my brother, so excuse me for just having gotten about 50 posts, i was otherwise occupied.

anyway things aren't determined by the post count its what you say in a post that counts.

truly sorry about your brother, hope u still get to go to japan fake marriage or not.

It is very hard to understand the sort who, despite never having lived in nor even visited Japan, enthusiastically gush about how wonderful Japan is and how they are desperate to move here on the next thing smoking and live here forever-n-ever-ever-ever. You've seen the type.

I'd like to point out that pretty much all of the argument I had with RockLee was deleted, so you have no idea what it is he was saying and how I was responding to it. Those quotes were responding to two different people and separate arguments I was having, did you not realize I was speaking about an argument with RockLee and yet there isn't an argument to be seen? Yes, I was not 'defeated'. That thread you dug up is not an example of me saying something and then denying I had ever said it. Out of almost 700 posts you couldn't find one example of something that I 'always' do? Who's 'defeated' when that happens? Surely not you of course, because that is simply impossible. If I call people arrogant it's because they are incredibly arrogant. You sir, are the prime example of it. Now you're just taking anything to throw at me.

So here it is. You ignored the bulk of my previous post and decided to focus on trying to find an old post in which I said something and then denied saying it. You failed at that. While ignoring the bulk of my previous post, you weren't able to respond and show that I had said something and then denied saying it in this thread either. Double fail.

After all that, I'm still impressed you can remain so incredibly condescending. You have it down to a fine art.

I know what you're saying, it is understandable. I was simply pointing out that there are some who don't share your views and would like nothing more than to live in Japan. The answer is simply that people have individual opinions. Nothing more. I'm not trying to convince you to move to Japan. And I'm not saying I wish to give up my Canadian citizenship to go live in Japan. I was simply saying there are some who would, and that it's not too ridiculous a concept.

Oui, my little brother is just like that. I've lived in Japan for two years with my uncle, so I know what it's like. I can't really say it was everything I expected it to be, but I loved the buildings, culture, and people there. I made a few friends, and I'm going back one more time before I decide to sign up with NOVA to check it out.
PEOPLE MUST CHECK JAPAN FIRST, IT CAN BE VERY CRUEL TO THOSE WITH WEAK HEARTS.

cheers to that then,

Well I have never known you different KOT, always picking on about everything that isn't in agreement with your ideas, last week you were picking on Inuyasha, who is 12 for crying out loud ! Btw, Maciamo is the freaking admin/co-owner of this forum, ofcourse he knows what was said between you and me -_-; And it's true you attack people at the slightest opportunity, you defend yourself with almost anything you can fight to not have to prove the other person right. Are you too proud to say so when you are defeated or when you're not right? But besides that your a nice guy :)

U do have a way with sarcasm I must say...:

Can you ban a user on terms of idiocy or annoyance factor? If so, I think we all know what needs to be done. Maybe just until he graduates elementary school?
Picking on kids..shame on you KOT !

I love how you can completely ignore the Nintendo Revolution as if it doesn't exist. Good stuff.
whaa...did I notice sarcasm ?

Let's be serious now. You can't honestly compare an anime like Naruto to one of Bebop's calibur. They aren't even close. Naruto can be entertaining, Yes, But it isn't even close to the quality of Cowboy Bebop.
Who says that huh ? hmm that's YOUR opinion.Tsk tsk..;-)

I personally wouldn't marry just to get my ticket to Japan.

i like how this has turned into an onslaught on KOT behalf, even though i agree with KOT, the previous post by ROCK LEE, just kinda sums it up.

But isn't this place about voicing your opinions and sharings thoughts (particularly JAPAN, but yeah.)
