I said that I would not post again, but I promise this thread is my last. I need input from people that I trust on which camera to buy. Here are the ones I'm looking at, but if you have a better choice (HDD, DVD, etc...) feel free to put your 2 yen worth in to the discussion.

1. JVC GZ-MG27 or MG21 20GB HDD camcorder.

2. Toshiba Gigashot GSC-R30 30GB HDD

3. Sony DCR-SR100 30GB HDD (a little pricey for me though)

I'm thinking of going with a HDD recorder because of the ease of use. But from what I am reading, the image quality is very poor.

If you have good suggestions for DVD camcorders throw them out and I'll see what they look like.

Thanks!

I would go with what Consumer Reports says?

I've been trying to talk myself into buying a movie camera for 10 years now. I have one in the closet that is the old giant VHS that you had to lug a VCR recorder on your hip as well as the 15 pound camera and lights if you wanted to shoot in low light. I think I recorded 3 hours total on it since I got it. I've traveled a lot , but always have prefered still pics to video. If I am honest with myself, I hardly ever look at the pictures after I take them; they go into the cellar with the other 10,000 already stored there. Chances are with video, you would have to spend a lot of time editing them. Then you might drive friends and relatives nuts, making them watch the video you took. Ask yourself if you really would use it a lot and what you would do with the video you took.

All I can suggest is to diligently look around the net using "review" as one of your search terms.

I've done that, just looking for other input was all.
