I completely agree. The other week i was asked if i would prefer a Mac or a PC for my next new computer here. And I said Mac without hesitation. I use all the programs you listed above for work. I have them on my PC at home but they just dont feel 'right' on my PC. So my order for the new G5 was accepted!!!

I also agree with the person further up the thread ...most stable OS = DOS 6.2.2 although i recon OS X is getting there.

And XP aint as stable as most people would like to think..... well, not on all the peoples machines i know.... aswell as mine...gah

p.s. Im not a Mac guy.. i appreciate both Mac's and PC's for what they are good at. I wouldn't have a Mac at home, well if i was only able to have one machine. I love my PC games too much. ...but if i could have both...-dribble-

Twisted : I use XP , I'm not as much as a professional as you or as you say you are but Xp for me is quite stable... XP DOES suffer from instant reboots, but if you look around, theres a solution. like so :

Control Panel > System > Advanced | Look for Startup and Recovery > Settings and Untick "Automatically Restart"

Although i can't say win xp is the best, but yeah thats my honest opinion

also g5's are good... but not until i get a new athlon 64 then rawrness shall happen!

I was ready to give up on Windows because of the constant crashing. I worked with BSD and Linux but found to many years of Windows Icons left me brain dead and too lazy to think. When XP showed up, I figures give it a try.I managed to crash previous versions(6.22-95-98-ME) about every 2 or 3 days. I've been running XP since Sept. and have had momentary freez-ups once or twice a day, but very painless. I have had one freez that I couldn't escape & had to use to reset button. Not to bad since I run about 10 hours a day. I do wish I could afford a good Apple system to give it a try !

I came out as Windows 95.

I use XP and find it to be highly stable. About the only time it crashes on me is when one of my kids kicks the plug out of the wall. Other than that, it runs 24/7, usually a month or a month and a half between restarts.

Congratulations!

Using WinXP now without the slightest trouble! Very stable, so that the word "crash" left my dictionary
Matter is that you still can screw things up in WinXP if you've got no clue about what you're doing (although it's harder than in previous versions), which would result in crashes 'n' stuff.

I'm supposedly meant for Slackware Linux. In reality, I use Window XP Pro. Normally, I can't stand programs like Windows (lots of automatic features), but after using it for many years, I know just about everything about Windows.

BTW: This debate about the stability of WinXP is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Yes it's more stable than it's predicessors, but it still suffers the effects of trying to pack to many new features in without getting a stable framework first--it crashes, it glitches, and it has more security holes than an free FTP porn site.
