I like.....

the tank busting workhorse, A-10 Warthog!

Uncle Frank

:-)

I love some of the old WWII aircraft like the P-51 and the P-38 and the Spitfire... I also like the B-17... and I always thought a Catalina Flying Boat would be cool to have.

Mine are:
1. X-15 Rocket Plane
2. XB-70 Valkyrie
3. B-2 Stealth Bomber
4. F-4 Phantom
5. SR-71 Blackbird

Just to be quick here, a whole bunch...perhaps the top one being the P-51. However, one to own and to fly. . . I really think I'd like to have a (and I know I've got the name wrong, just hoping someone can correct me) Sopwith Campbell? I think that's the one Snoopy always pictured himself as being in, isn't it? I think I'd love that slower moving, open air, fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants style. MM

Yeah, I bet it must be thrilling to fly in an open cockpit. I've never flown in an open cockpit. Oh, and by the way, the Name of the Plane you are referring to is a Sopwith Camel.

I love the SR71! I also like the newer YF22.

One of my favorite non military jets: The dinky BD5.

I thought the Voyger and the Gossamer Condor and Albatross were quite cool, but too rare and fragile for my list. Flying wings are cool...

Does Spaceship one count as a plane?

Ah....yes....Thank you Flanker !!

I only have a mere 10 hours or so flying time under the belt, and it was all in a Cessena 172 (I believe that was the number) and it was kind of by-the-seat-of-the-pants, but, not open.

Spaceship 1? Good question sabro.

The good old Chance-Vought F4U Corsair.

The biggest prop they could mate to the biggest engine in as small as possible an airframe. The distinctive gull wing was designed strictly to allow enough ground clearance for that massive prop to turn while on the ground.

The old P-40 (of "Flying Tigers" fame) was also a very beautiful aircraft.

THere was some czech aircraft that my dad showed be once in his picture form an air show he went to, the thing about it was that it fly about walking speed without stalling...
Aside from that, the B-17, or the B-52 <= that things been around since the 50s!

I'd have to say Harrier Jump Jet too, for it's genius engine design that enabled it to hover and take-off vertically.

And Stealth planes because they look cool.

Well, I was in the Navy, and while I was never stationed on a carrier, I like the F-14 Tomcat (immortalized in Top Gun) and the FA-18 Hornet which replaced the big 'Cat.

👍

Ooooh, I forgot I used to be into military stuff;

The A-10 Tankbuster (sometimes called Thunderbolt or Warthog)

Cos it looks mean and has that huge cannon running it's length.
Apparently the recoil from the cannon is so powerful, it is sometimes is in danger of stopping the plane in mid-air, when flying at lower speeds. Cool.

I like the Vulcan... maybe it sounds corny, but I just like the shape of it. :haihai:
I also have a weakness for the Bristol Boxkite, simply because it's an awesome challenge to draw! :D (and makes a great silhouette!)

Too many to make a decision!. 😍

I'm more of a helicopter man myself though TBH.

Good old Blackhawk. 👍

So many Heli's, where to start...

I'm not a huge aviation buff, but I have always liked Burt Rutan's designs, something about them is alluring and graceful, yet so unusual.

I'm also a fan of the P-51 Mustang.
