I know not everyone is a danger junkie, but we have all done something in the past, that when we consider it later was probably very dangerous. I can list several things: Parachuting is near the top of the list along with dumb things like trtying to pinch someones lights off his Landrover. He was doing 60mph at the time and I was hanging out of another car. Not wise.
So what is the most dangerous thing that you have ever done. It doesn't have to be dumb, like the car thing. 👍

When i was driving in the back seat of my friends car while he was driving really fast around country lanes i thought it would be fun to put my hands over his eyes and pull his head back.

It was funny at the time though now i probally think it was not such a good plan.

When I was about nine a friend and I would throw rocks at this wasp nest the was in the back of an apartment complex. We use to do this enough just to see what would happen. We found out, too. And that's how I now know that wasps attack in groups. 😲

About a month ago I jumped off a moving train! (we still have some without automatic doors in UK)

I was half asleep and half drunk and had missed my stop.
I didn't want to be stranded (and have to pay for a taxi) any further than was necessary, so in my wisdom decided that jumping off was a good idea.
I don't know how fast it was going, but thankfully I landed on the platform.
I went down like a sack of potatoes and hurt my hands and one of my ribs - but no hospital visits so far.

The worst thing was, it was a week before I went to Japan and I was worried my pen friend would see the state of my hands and think I'd been fighting, not that what actually happened sounded any more sensible when I told her.

Anyway, I don't think I will be repeating the experience and plan to campaign for the abolition of slam-door trains - for my own protection!

Cheers,..Richardo

Hmmmm?? So many things to list!

When I was a kid I used to hop on the freight trains when they rolled through town, and I would jump off just before they picked up speed again.

I began riding motorcycles when I was 6...that's actually pretty dangerous at any age no matter what people say.

Being military, I have rappelled out of moving helocopters, also I have spy rigged (hanged by a harness on a special rope) under helos, and I have also fast roped out of helos onto ships and buildings.

The most dangerous? Probably racing my Trans Am at 140 mph or racing my motorcycle going side by side through a curve at 120mph. Both were pretty fun then, but looking back were just plain dangerous! 😌

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night........

about 2AM. I got a call from the police that someone broke into the Family business and were still inside; they needed someone to open up and put the lights on so they could go in and catch them. I grabbed my kel-lite, cuffs and .357 and went down. The lightswitch was way down in back of the building, so I told the cops to wait outside (dumb move) while I got the lites on for them. I make my way down to the lights, slowly with gun drawn. They teach you to look up in cop school (people tend to look down) so I paid REAL close sttention to the area above the light swich( a big overhead storage area) where someone could hide easy. I hit the light switch, and saw movement by my feet; scared the crap out of me and I almost fired my gun.
There was one of the guys lying on the floor behind the wall with the light switch and he had a big handcycle for cutting grass. If he hadn't been to afraid to move, he could have cut me to pieces all the time I was looking up.
So anyway, I prone him out and cuff him and take him out to the cops. By this time the dog officer had arrived so they send the dog in to see if there are any more robbers in the store. Turns out there was 1 more in the closet behind where I had cuffed the other guy. He had a knife & 5 pound sledge hammer in his hands and could have easiley come out and killed me when I was busy cuffing his partner. Sooo that night I escaped getting killed or badly injured twice. That was the last time I decided to act like John Wayne.

Getting in the car with my friend who was never sober. I would get in the car and ride back to the dorm from anywhere just after we had smoked numerous bowls or had many a bong hit and after she had taken a few hits of LSD. I don't see how I ever made it.

I also used to drive 110 mph home every night after work when I was in high school. When I'd pull up in the driveway, I could smell rubber burning.

My stepfather and I were racing bikes one time too, and were going down a hill at about 40 mph. It turned out that really was dangerous and had some implications. My foot slipped off the pedal, I lost control, and made hamburger meat out of myself.

I am super-cautious now, though. Having children changes you. Even though I haven't done the most dangerous things, I sometimes have my breath taken away when I think of all the stupid things I've done. How did I survive?

I could list numerous things I look back on doing as a child, playing in construction sites, rattlesnake hunting, cliff diving, I sometimes wonder how I survived. But I think the most dangerous thing in recent years has been on my 21st birthday. We had a huge party and hit all the bars in our town, not to mention the prodigious drinking before the bars, and luckily we had some friends who were DDs for the night so none of us drunkards were driving. Well one DD friend had an old chevy pickup with a bench seat and we had him driving, my roommate next to him and me against the door. As we left the last bar for the 10 minute drive home it was snowing pretty hard and I was waaaay to drunk, so I rolled down the window and yelled at people who were wandering around, to offer rides or just randomly chat (keep in mind this is in a town of about 24,000 people, 22,000 of which are college students, so the walking traffic is always high when the bars close). As I am yelling at a group of girls to get them to hop in the back of the truck, I manage to pull myself out the window and sit with most of my body outside and just my legs in the cab of the truck; it's with me in this precarious position that my roommate decides to open the door of the truck, making me and the door swing out into space, at 35mph. My friend who was driving at the time told me later he was afraid if he tried to stop that I would fall out of the window, so we rode like that for about 5 minutes through town. Looking back I wonder how I didn't hit a parked car, or fall out, or that we didn't get pulled over.

Ok, this is not quite answer you expected, but anyway.... i lived (and still do) in Sarajevo when it was under the siege, so it was really dangerous living... bombs, snipers everywhere... so pretty dangerous was to go out on street, and pretty stupid to go when you do not have to... but, hey, nobody can live for four years in just one room (and school of course).... so we kids use to go out anyway... it was kind of 'safe' but not too much... when i look back now on those days, i was really lucky to survive that...
But beside that i was really nice and calm child... cannot say same for my teenage years, but havent done such dangerous things that you guys mentioned....

🙂

I'd say that going out in Sarajevo at that time is pretty dangerous, by far the most dangerous thing that I read here so far anyways.

At one point in my life ... it was going to work ... !

During the late 1960's/early '70's I was working as a section engineer on a large construction project in Suffolk, England. I was looking after the construction of a 400' radio-communications tower.

As a matter of course I used to (daily) walk on 10" (250mm) wide steel beams at about 200' to 300' (65/100metre) above the ground. No safety lines, no net, no problem. Never bothered me. Nice view !

Curiously, I had a really good head for heights until just a few years ago ..... when I suddenly had an attack of vertigo .... and to my shame ... had to be assisted off a bridge pier in Vancouver ! Most embarrassing ! But bloody awful to experience!

Now ... I need assistance in climbing onto a chair ! Must be getting old !

Take Care....

Happens to me all the time :( I hate heights. I remember last year climbing the sagrada familiar in Barcelona. I was fine till i got to the top and looked over the edge. It took me about 1 hour to get back down. Sitting on each of the steps as i went down them.

Sadly my gf thought this to be hilarious.

I jumped off a roller coaster while it was going up a loop, fell down, and back into my seat when it slid back down. Super adrenaline freak Thor...
Wait, not really but let's say I did.

Ok... I know I am gonna get some serious flak for this but... "Russian Roulette" using a live round in my Sig Sauer P226. I had just finished the Police Academy at the time and had earned my certification. We were in a celebratory mood and someone came up with the bright idea for all of us to try this after a long night of excess. Of course, not everyone chose to participate (the smart ones anyways). Yeah, what a bunch of freakin' geniuses we were... Fortunately, no one got hurt and I count my blessings that my ticket didn't get punched that night (how do you explain that one to the surviving family?). That's just one item in a long list of things I wish I had never done... *sigh* Moral of the story: alcohol + guns = stupid stupid stupid ideas.

Had you been watching the deer hunter? Really stupid people play it with semi-autos, 'Here, you go first'
Still say Alma is the leader. Isn't it amazing how you still manage to live and get by in such conditions.

Well one time, at band camp; i had a fight with a crocodile, and i almost lost my arm. he was pretty stong, but yeah,,, i still one

and one other time, we went swimming with band camp, and they left me alone, the forgot me, so some sharks were trying to atack me, but i just hit there nose really hard, and then they swom away'

... mmm no serieus, i havnt done so many dangerous things yet, i went traveling for 9 months, alone. but mm thats not that dangerous. i once almost got hit by garbage wagon, when i was playing soccer, and because of my soccer shoes, i almost glide under the wagon...

mm i went on military area one time, in my country, but we didnt knew it was a restricted area, so we just went in, and suddenly we saw some soldiers coming our way, we just run away, but later on some officer came to us, and asked us if we wanted to help him ( it was a training for bosnia, so we needed to play kids, there were starving and hunrgy, and needed to steal there weapons, or water if posible, pretty fun that was... ow going off topic again)

mm got in a fight, that was pretty dangerous, when i was 15, and 2 other friends, against 10 other guys, from another school, got some punches, and ended with a knife in my back.. got luck a lot, the knife didnt went that deep, but it could have hit the really wrong places, this is the most dangerous moment in my life, this stupid stupid school fight

I really think you should have complained about the folks who were in charge of that swimming pool !

Quite disgraceful !

Wow....

A lot of daredevils here...

😌

Actually, I'm probably going to do the most reckless (by some people's standards) thing of my life this summer. If Mad Pierrot is still around at the end of August, you'll know it all worked out well!

☝ :? :o 😲

no guys, thanks for that but i dont wanna lead in this... and it is not fair to others because i havent done anything 'dangerous' just for no reason... it is just that i was born in wrong place at wrong time (and stayed there)

Other than riding on a tour bus with fellow sailors through downtown Jerusalem in 1990 when I was in the Navy, and wondering if we were gonna take an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) through a window from some terrorist whackjob, nothing much. I've never been any sort of risk taker, too much of a wimp for that sort of activity.

No need to apologize for anything Alma, like you said you weren't trying to do anything dangerous, you just happened to be in a dangerous situation. I am just glad you managed to make it to the point where we can have discussions about The Last Unicorn over the internet with you, even when you had that kind of a dangerous situation around you without your choice. 🙏

The most dangerous thing I have ever done was probably the time I mooned a buddy of mine while we were going down the road.....on motorcycles.

I had a cruise control for the throttle so the actual dropping of the trousers and performing the rising moon wasn't all that difficult.

The dangerous part was trying to get my pants UP again while laughing so hard that tears were streaming down my face. I couldn't see a damned thing and muscle control was a bit of a problem too.
