Sorry to those whose favourite game's not in the list! :p

I'm playing Legend of Dragoon at the moment. It's OK. Pretty standard, but there's a cool button-hitting bit in the battles that makes it interesting. Also, the monsters are pretty hard but give you very little exp - you can only really level up with boss battles. That annoyed me at first, until I realised it was making me be more strategic about the boss battles. I can't win them by brute force because there's just not enough exp available to level up my characters, so I have to think about how I'm going to beat the bosses with weaklings.

I love Final fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. ^^ They are the best I ever played. ^^

Enjoy Final Fantasy the most, liked Suikoden V, can't come to terms with the Shadow Hearts series which is just "meh" in my opinion.

Final Fantasy of course. Best in those series according to me are FF III, FF VIII, FF X and FF X-2
I like the realistic graphics much more, so that's why I'm not to satisfied with VII what is said to be one of the best according to most people.
I recently started playing FF III again, but I'm stuck... :(

Also I'm curious if anyone who played FF III (6) on SNES knows if this is bogus or not:

To revive General Leo after he died.

The given info what I doubt is true:

Option 1: Fight 3000 battles with the Atma Weapon, with nothing else equipped, and it will turn into a sword to open Leo's Grave.

Option 2: After you get all of the characters, go to the Fanatic's Towerand make only ONE fight. Then go to Owser's House, and talk to him. Repeat this 3 times, and then go fight the Storm Dragon in Mt. Zozo. After that, go to mobliz and a child will give you a dull. The dull will turn into General Leo the next time that Sabin gains a level.

Option 3: When you get the Phoenix Esper, and the screen is all black (Before you see "The Village of Kohlighen), put: A B X Y up up down down left right left right SELECT. After that, General Leo will be alive.

There's no Dragon Quest on this poll? For shame!
Why nobody told anything about Dragon Quest, they aren't even in the list >_<. I love them!!!!!!!! ^^;
Um.. This is indeed weird. It is not a exaggeration to say that the Dragon Quest series made the RPG as a genre as mainstream as it is today. Especially in Japan. 😌

I don't like RPG's myself, but I loved watching my brothers play Dragon Quest and get carried away by the story and music.. Yes I even cried a few times. :(

I really liked Crystalis for the original Nintendo.

I had always wished they would have made a sequal to it.
But I had heard just after that game was when SNK went and
made the hyper-expensive Neo-Geo system and stopped making games
for other systems.

(although Dragan Warrior was the first rpg i got into besides Zelda,
which were both good. then the humongoud -at the time- Final Fantasy came out. uh! amazing. i kind of stepped out of gaming for a few years so now i'm still playing FF7 & FFX)

I love Final Fantasy, but i don't know if i could take the the new battle system. I tried it and i didn't exactly fall in love with it. XIII looks like a better XII and i have no plans to buy a PS3 so i guess it's goodbye for now FF. I'll miss playing as squall running around and powering up and the demolishing bosses. Or playing as cloud saving the planet. Or playing as tidus and enjoying the beautiful landscapes and having a great ride with the games. Hopefully you'll come to the Wii FF.

Only Final Fantasy series that really impress me a lot is 6 and 12 , other than that i couldn't find the excitement like i was playing the mentioned game .

The Shin Megami Tensei Series are the best for me , no matter what smt games i played , it really does make me excited and enjoy the whole thing .

so i voted others

Making the VERY top of my list:

1. Xenogears (PS1)

Quite possibly the best story ever told in an RPG. I forgave it's flaws (battles needed tweaking, dialog was too slow), and still loved it immensely. Though written by the same person in a similar universe, the Xenosaga series never lived up to it in the first two, and was cut from a single storyline spanning 6 games down to 3 games... then the 3rd game had to go and own me. I'm playing through it right now, and it quite possibly has the best dramatic storytelling I've EVER seen in a videogame (this one is a rising star on my list)

2. Final Fantasy 6 (SNES)

This one is often forgotten, as it was neither the first final fantasy most people played (e.g. FF4 and FF7), but it had everything you wanted - an ensamble cast, a fun and likable villain (Kefka), and a ton of secrets. It was not revolutionary or new - it was the embodiment of all the experience and polish that those who made games had collected over time.

3. Grandia II (Dreamcast)

Hands-down the best battle system of any turn-based system in any RPG. It improved the system from Grandia I, and added a really intriguing story and fun, fun, fun! A classic that should not be forgotten.

4. Dragon Quest 4 (NES)

This game was so incredibly awesome. It did incredible things on the NES, had a massive world, and some of the best storytelling of the day. It's chapter system gave variety, and gave you a story that brought together a lot of people. This one was largely unknown outside of Japan, however.

5. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GC)

You're probably saying "huh?" at this point, but this game is so incredibly fun you wouldn't believe it without trying. Between the incredibly beautiful visual style (2d polys in a 3d world), and the funny, quirky world that Mario and friends live in, this game is really, really good.

I don't believe it! How come you didn't put Tales of Phantasia on the poll list? It is the ever best SNES game.

Final Fantasy! <3

Well, Kingdom Hearts makes the cool people too comic-y. And the part about him fighting Riku in the Beauty and the Beast section, well, I almost spluttered with laughter when he used that stupid "I have my heart" line. Other than that, it was pretty entertaining. :p

Final Fantasy X was okay, but Tidus is sort of whiny in the beginning. I liked Rikku, Auron, and Lulu best. Final Fantasy X-2 is pretty much pointless. Some of Yuna's concerts were okay though.

Final Fantasy IX, well, I loved that one. Chocobos!

And, that's all I've played. 👍

final fantasy, the storyline, graphics, gameplay everything. and that's the only game i've played out of the list :p

there only a few things that i like from an RPG and it's a good history, characters and the options in the game, i found one and i belive it's Crono Trigger is the best RPG of all the time 👍
