Japan and South Korea (and Hong Kong but not as much these days) are making the best films in the world in my opinion. They just have so much creativity and guts, compared to the rest of the world. I mean movies are made to make money sure, but in Asia they still take risks to bring amazing visions to the big screen. Not every film in Japan is aimed at teens either, like movies in the USA are (movies aimed at people over 18 are rare). You'd never see films like Battle Royale and Ichi the Killer being made in the west, and its a shame.
My favourite directors are Takashi Miike and Takeshi Kitano.
