Looks like the UTF site is gone...
Tokiemedia looks good, too bad they don't also have documentary and other variety oriented programming on their site...
Another good site would be d-addicts for drama and aznmedia for various jpop music/drama/movies...
I did come across a site (only in Japanese for now, perhaps) called J network service International that has a website:
http://us.jnet.ne.jp/ that allegedly allows you to download from Nippon TV, TBS TV, Fuji TV, TV Asahi and TV Tokyo with the ability to get NHK, NHK BS-1, WOWOW, Green Channel, Animax and a couple of others for additional fees. I've tried downloading from their site using the "usfl" as the promotional password, but have been unsuccessful. The site claims that for 3600 yen (approx $36/month) you can download any show they have on their schedule up to a month in the past. The promotional trial period is about a week, 5-days actually, and it has a limited selection you can try for free. The site is limited to Internet Explorer, however, and it does require broadband access for decent download speeds...If anybody else that can read Japanese can try this out and see if it works for them, I'm interested in finding out how they fared with the downloads. I haven't subscribed, but it seems like all of the shows are in .wmv format.
I know it is a pay site, but if it works, then you should have access to all the main channels of programming for a relatively low fee per month. Much cheaper than getting Comcast with their sucky service...
especially since they just took down the AZN TV that I was using to watch the Fuji News Network and other shows they had, that kinda pissed me off
