Was the chat room just "updated" ?

Ok so if a member is not one of the above then they should be able to log-in right?
If that is so how did Ichiroll manage to "break-in"
Oh well, I know the admin is working on it and I wish him well in getting it fixed.

It all becomes clear now - only Admin and "registered" users (those who have signed up but never posted) can presently enter the chatroom. That would mean that Ichiroll can no longer enter chat now that he's posted.
If this proves a persistently troublesome problem here's a potential work-around - how about letting those of us who want to chat create (temporarily) a second user account to never post with, but to enter the chatroom. Everyone could clear this with a mod in advance for permission to set up a second account, the name could be stipulated to identify people (eg I could have 'made of stone 2', say) - they would then be identifiable (and of course you guys have our ISPs) and you can delete these second accounts once things are working again.
Anyway, keep up the good work Admin! We're counting on you!

Why don't we just use IRC?
ed: I'm in the process of possibly running one locally here, with a dynDNS address, shouldn't be too much noticeable traffic... just as a stop-gap method... there should be some simple irc programs people can use... I'll see if I can write a mini-faq...

It really seems odd that someone with no posts can get in fine? Maybe we should give everyone who wants to use chat a new account like "CHAT1" "CHAT2" "CHAT3" and so forth, then we delete them all when chat is fixed.

Maybe the ADMIN should erase all our accumulated POSTS hourly so it reads Zero all the time. I cant get in since mking posts like this. BUt then I have bee n without a Chatroom since LAST JUNE in the other forum because of "security flaw" wher a member can log in with anyone's name when entering be a "nisemono member" or a Clone or our "OTHER EVIL TWIN".

Yes please! Could Admin give us permission to do that? Should I PM them to ask?
Alternatively we could have a gender swap theme for our second accounts for temporary amusement - one fine poster's already suggested I could be maid of stone for example.
What say you, Aunty Frank?!
(IRC seems like an idea too, but i've never used it. Can anyone recommend a client? (Is that what it's called?)

I am still locked out, having tried everything - logging out, clearing cookies, even tried different web browsers, all to no avail...
In the meantime I've PMed Admin about the possibility of temporary second user accounts just for chat.
Anyone else up for the temp gender swap as a kind of chat theme party? Han Cue? (Sorry, bad Star Wars/Japanese conglomerate joke there! ) Glennda?

I have worked on the chat today, and it appears to work now. I have tested all usergroups. Let me know if there are still any glitches.
There are currently 4 chat rooms: JREF Chat, Japan, Nihongo and JRock. Just select the chat room of your choice from the dropdown menu on the top of the chat.

I also thank you Admin for your hard work! I would love for the J-Rockers to start using chat; save deleteing 1000's of their posts that would be better for the chat room.
