You can bet that he will expand it, and in a big way. For example, he has stated his intention to make an enormous, budget-busting increase in the size of the armed forces:

"As president, I will increase the size of the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps from the currently planned level of roughly 750,000 troops to 900,000 troops. Enhancing recruitment will require more resources and will take time, but it must be done as soon as possible."

One might think that being a former prisoner of war (which strikes me as a poor "qualification" for being commander-in-chief) would make someone reluctant to start wars, but it seems that McCain is practically drooling with anticipation over the prospect of engaging the US in war, war, and more war. As far as I'm concerned, he is an extremely dangerous person.
 
I don't know if I can post it here but I found a great video about Iraq war. You know who's Bill O'Reilly? He's a pro republican and he wants more U.S. military forces in Iraq war. He really looks like a republican politician and when I see that, what I think about republicans cannot be written on forums:



I completely agree with Sunsara Taylor.

Anyways, even if democrates promise to bring the troops home, I think that they just say that to get more votes. It doesn't mean they're telling the truth. During election time, it's easy to say something but when they're elected, they don't accomplish what they said.
 
Perhaps Mackain feels that military expansion could be used to find POWs, and free them from the horrible treatment i hear he received as a POW. Truth is, Mackain seems to be traditionalized, especially because of being a POW. His family wasn't exactly common people, so Mackain was treated the worst, or so i hear, for the purpose of demoralizing the troops so to speak... If Mackain is traditional, he feels that protection of the US citizens is more important than the protection of the US military. Looking at the "war on terror," you'll find that this is a war involving traditional values. USA is hated, not for it's freedom like everyone wants to say, but because the US supports the country of Israel. If you look how "terrorists" act in the country of Israel, you'll find that even though there are terrorists in the US now, it's imperative to show that the US means buisness. Otherwise, the US could still share the same fate of it being rather common to go to sleep one night and wake up with some one in your family dead and not enough police manpower to investigate the murder, since they're too busy investigating all the others. But, that's for another topic...

I still remember the democrates saying they weren't going to raise taxes... I still remember one of the first things they did once elected into congress...

As for Bill O'Reilly, i myself am a registered Republican, but i find myself quite ashamed that he is the one pretty much representing the party on the media. He's like typical news cast that throws his weight around and claims he doesn't. The media is taken way too seriously, these days. Funny, though, that he identifies himself liberatarian (sp?)...

However, in that situation, i agree with Bill O'Reilly. Her choice of "facts" over "opinions" in wording i find immature. Even more immature i find the actions of the group whom the guest represents. Instead of talking about the topic ("why did you do this immature thing?"), she does what people typically do on his show, and change the topic just to shoot off their mouths about the opinions.

I just turned on the TV, and guess what show was on. Dennis Miller was the guest, said something very interesting. He said someting i felt about Hillary, only sex card instead of race card. Obama is apparently using the race card to prevent anyone from speaking bad about him. Very clever, but very mature.
 
Another ugly reality of politics (and race) in the US is that there are still too many people who will automatically oppose any self-respecting non-white dandidate, fabricate excuses for opposing that person that do not involve race, and strenuously deny that race is involved in opposing the non-white candidate. Obama has had to deal with that sort of thing all along. And then when he or his campaign staff do defend Obama from obviously racially motivated attacks, some propagandist will come along and accuse Obama of playing the "race card". Those outside the USA should not think that just because Obama is the likely Democratic nominee for President that racial issues have been settled. There are still plenty of people in the US who are horrified that a non-white person will be running for President. Most of them will not say so openly, but they will eagerly accept and repeat flagrantly dishonest attempts to smear Obama. That is still the nature of politics in the US.

By the way, I watched the YouTube video clip, and it clearly shows the difficulties that any honest person has who subjects himself or herself to the constant barrage of malicious misinformation from Bill O'Lie-ly. BO is essentially incapable of being honest or decent. Taylor was clearly the honest one of the two and she did about as good as anyone could do with the execrable BO. I bet BO had to have a session with his loofah after that show.

See what i mean? As O'Reilly said, Obama and his advocates are using "the race card card." There aren't many people afraid of a black president. However, there is lots of talk about people being afraid, but of all the people i know in my country, i have yet to find anyone in opposition of Obama because he's black. Racism, for the most part, has been eliminated in the 60s. It has had about 40 years to slowly die out. Even in the 60s the nation was divided about 50-50 over the issue, so the governement went ahead and made it so the issue was none no more. Quite frankly, i don't see the KKK stupid enough to try to protest against Obama. I seriously don't like the guy because he himself has affiliated himself with a racist preacher. If anyone is the racist, it's Obama himself. At it seems to be true for him to immediately play the race card to prevent anyone from criticising him in any way. I had the same problem criticising hillary. Hillary is as bad as her husband, thank god she isn't getting into office. Unfortunately, though, i'm apparently a womanzier to alot of people. Obama's pullin' the same cheap tactic. I knew we should've had a Jewish candidate...

What her group did was immature. It's perfectly alright to protest and even chant like that, but to prevent some one else from getting their own opinion out is selfish. That'd be like me becomming a moderator and deleting your post and banning you for the duration of this thread.
 
i don't see what's wrong with it. How many racists do you personally know in proportion to non-racists you personally know?
 
Let's do be careful to keep the discussion as close to the theme of the US presidential election process as possible--allowing a bit of embedding to support a point or whathaveyou.
