Hi I am half Japanese and born in Sasebo and my mother married an American in the 1960's and she was disowned by her father for doing so.
She has not spoken or heard from her family in almost 50 years. Growing up she would never give me any of her family info like their names.
Recently my father gave me the names of her mother and father and her brothers and sisters. I would like to find whoever is still alive.
My mother was from a town called Moji City and from looking on online maps is seems that Moji City was annexed along with several smaller towns and now is called Kitakyushu in the Fukuoka Prefecture.
Does anybody have any idea how I may find my Japanese side of the family?
Is there a TV show that finds family? Or is there a department that keeps records of births?
I have no idea how I am going to go about this but I now have the family names so I think that I have a good chance now of finding someone
