Top ten tear-jerkers of all time?

I was just looking at the IMDB message board for The Notebook, and someone made a thread asking people what movies they thought were the top tear-jerkers.

So, do you think you can list your top ten tear-jerkers? I'm going to attempt to name mine, in descending order:

1. Bridges of Madison County
2. Lost in Translation
3. Forrest Gump
4. Gone with the Wind
5. The Lover
6. The Professional
7. Pay it Forward
8. The Color Purple
9. Cold Mountain
10. A League of Their Own (believe it or not)

I think I'm probably leaving out more depressing ones than those I have listed, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.

Oh no~ this is a tough one, kirei! I jsut watched one that made me cry a week ago, but usually try not to cry otherwise my husband will tease me.
These ones always make me cry.

-Decalogue by Krzysztof Kieslowski (His movies are extremely good and I strongly recommend them.)
-Black Hawk Down
-The Killing Fields
-The Elephant Man

when i think of Black hawk down, i think about my Dolby suround system that is on max volume to listen to the machine guns, rocket launchers, great humvees, black hawks, and orlando bloom falling out of the helicopter haha.

That I know, because after it I spend my whole evening looking for articles about it on the Internet, and I was impressed by it a lot, and it scared me.

so In that way I agree with you, when you look at the movie in this way. But in my in my point of view this movie was more made to be a block buster with shooting, and than the story behind it. I can be wrong in this one, and maybe it depends how people want to see the movie, and know about the subject before seeing the movie??? *good point you have Misa, I am enjoying on this one!

Hotel Rwanda was a movie that made me realize a lott, and was great played bye the main male character.

I don't watch much movies or TV, but I must say that Summer Snow, a j-drama, made me cry throughout the whole 11 episodes. You really learn to love the characters.

Last Samurai also made me cry, mostly because I dislike injustice, and the scenes of Indian massacre moved me surprisingly well.

The last scenes of the Children of Dune miniseries I liked, especially when ************** happened (you know what I'm talking about!). Even if the whole ending itself was kind of anti-climatic.

That's all I can remember for now.

My top ten tear-jerkers:
1. Wit - If you have not seen this movie or seen the play SEE IT NOW. This movie moved me, it really did. It is seriously one of those movies that changes your life.
2. The Hours - I relate to this movie more then any other film I've ever seen (and that's saying something 'cause I'm a cinema junkie). It's a film you can live by and I do.
3. Momento - Possibly the best backwards movie ever made. I think I cried through almost the whole thing.
4. Moon Child - Cried through the whole last half hour. And no, this movie is not on my list just because of who it stars.
5. The Last Samurai - I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I first saw this film. It is not only beautiful but raw and powerful.
6. Ringu 0 "Birthday" - A pure tragedy.
7. Shakespeare in Love - I have a clinic love of Shakespeare, poetry, and tragedy so this one is a given. It also contains the best randitions of scenes from Romeo and Juliet that I have ever seen.
8. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Another movie that I cried all the way through the final half hour of. This is truly a beautiful film.
9. The Phantom of the Opera - whether it's the musical, the movie based off the musical, or the book this story gets to me every single time.
10. Moulin Rouge - That title probably made a lot of people do a double take but it's true this movie makes me cry rivers. It's a wonderful Brechtian comitic tradegy.

It almost made me cry and then it did make me cry. But I was also drunk so who knows, great movie none the less, good enough that even I am going to buy it.
