If you are hurting someone to express your opinions then that is wrong. Maybe i am having a biased veiw about it as i think what the Japanese say about there history and what actually happened is up to them to decide on. Very few history books will ever say what really happned. No country likes to know that they done bad things. However it as a very long time ago and i wish people could just get on with their lives and look to the future instead.

People never give into threats for violence. The best way to go about such a thing is through talking and compromising.

I know about this but not about Japan doing the same thing. However the chinese cannot expect not to get some kind of response to the violence that they caused. All that happened from these chinese violent protests is create more aggression and dispute between the two countries, a dispute that really needs to be settled before the rest of the world gets sick of it.
Im not saying that the japanese were right in creating these history books however all countries tell the WWII story differntly.
For example it is very rarely spoken how Hitler bought a poor, starving jobless country back into power and wealth in just a few years. Had Hitler not done what he done Germany would of still been paying off world debts in 1995. This would eventually put them in a similar state to many of todays poor countries. However this is never stated. The fact is that countries never say how the past happened if it makes them look bad. Im sure China is the same in this and you should look at thier own histories lies before critising other peoples.

We do learn about the Treaty of Versailles & its effects on Germany (esp. the political effects). We also learn about the additional effects of the worldwide economic crisis (& other influences) of the late 1920s / early 1930s & how the economic situation dramatically improved in the 1930s under Hitler. The reasons for the economic recovery are manifold, though, & cannot only be attributed to Nazi policies (IIRC from my history lessons, recovery had already started before the Nazis came to power, anyway).Tim33 said:

Germanys wealth in the last 1920's was just an illusion, it had gotten that wealth from borrowing from other countries. After the wallstreet crash America wanted this money back leaveing Germany Bankcrupt.
The figure of unemployment when hitler first came into power was 6.1 million.
Though again this shows my point of history being taught differntly in differnt countries.
He was also voted Times Magazine Man of the year on Jan 2nd 1939 only 9 months before the start of World War 2
Many people in England at the time took to the streets of london in protest wanting a leader more like Hitler and a fascist government. They were actually just as angry with jewish people living in the west end that Germany was. Things could of gone very differnt.
Though luckily they did not.
Obviously when war did break out the opinions quickly changed.

Its really just a case of not learning History in school but instead learning it yourself from many differnt History books written by many differnt people/cultures and trying to figure out what you can for your own version of what happened.

About borrowing: it's a bit more complex than you explained. German banks borrowed heavily in the mid-20s, usually short-term loans (3 months) which got prolonged & prolonged. In November 1930 US banks ran into trouble & didn't prolong the loans anymore, which in turn led to problems for a number of minor German banks (not so bad yet). Frictions with France about a planned German-Austrian tariff union led to the collapse of a major Austrian bank. Only now fears in Germany might happen the same & the political reaction to those fears led to a withdrawal of foreign capital & caused a major crisis.

AFAIK, in China it's more a problem of what they actually learn at school. The propaganda people are later subjugated to is only additional. They usually don't have access to independent researched history books (esp. if they contradict the official version of history).

Im not trying to justify him in anyway, what he done was extreamly evil and quite unbelievable.
What i am saying is that he did do alot for germany before the war and was quite a clever man. None of this did i learn from school, what i learnt in school was he was the devil and killed millions of peole. The End.
There was alot more to it then that and unless you read up on it or follow on history to college or university you dont find this stuff out. The reason is because the government controls what is taught at school and all governments do. They will justify themselves in order to keep the reputation of there country good with itself. Thefore what Japan writes in its school taught history books is entirely up to them and is of no concern to China.
