That's your reputation points, dearie. If someone gives you good rep, first of all the dot goes green, then you get more dots, and then you get some brighter green dots.
To find out what your rep points were for, click on 'my settings' (at the top of the forum on the left on the dark-gray band), and it shows the person's little comment (and usually people leave their name, too), plus the link to which post they gave you the rep for.
If you get bad rep, you get red dots instead of green.
To give other people rep, click on the little scales at the bottom of their blue panel (near where their country flag is), and you get the choice of giving positive or negative rep.

I'm suprised I don't have red dots under my name yet. People don't seem to like me much here. I have almost as many black dots as green on my settings.

Hey, black dots only mean that the person who gave it to you hasn't yet made enough posts for their point to count positive or negative. 
It doesn't mean it was neg.
Anyway, people don't give negative rep just for disagreeing with your opinion (if they do they're really immature - a lot of people have disagreed with me in some areas of the forum without giving neg rep). People normally only bad rep someone if they're being a total *******, which you're not.

Oh, okay...but my black dots all have either not every nice things attached to them or nothing at all. It's worrisome.

I'm just not fond of being hated is all. I don't change because I don't want people to hate me or anything like that but I still don't like it when someone hates my guts.
And huh, I don't have as many black marks as I thought. I have a warped memory sometimes...or maybe it's just that I hadn't checked in awhile and so my other marks changed. :?

i think whether or not your rep points count depends on how many you've recieved or given out?? :? it was like...you either have to give 10 or recieve 10 for them to start counting...or something like that...

those people are silly then if they put unpleasant comments. i don't know, maybe it's just me, but i think you would have to be pretty rediculous to send unpleasant rep points...but maybe that's just me?? :? i don't know... but any way, you shouldn't worry about it.

i think it's cute, like when girls have boy names like "Ryan" or "Noah". i don't know, "kun" just seems cuter to me than "chan"...but maybe that is just me?? :? ah well, i am glad it made you happy.

OMG!! yay for the miyavi! i seen his live in bokoden on DVD i need to learn how to scene shot some pics so i can post. i heard that one of GLAY members (maybe jiro?) ran off stage cause they were shy...
i wanna see a gazette live so bad...i should start digging maybe ill end up in japan
