I'm not sure if this goes here so tell me if it doesn't.

I want to start a new Japanese based diet (not weight lose) so I can be more immersed in the culture and just be heathly! I've looked around on google and I can't really find a good site that give detailed instructions on how to start. Maybe there isn't one. >< But I would like some advice on where to start and what recipes to start out with. If you have websites and/or comments that would help also. Thank you very much for reading! ^^

Eat tofu and miso soup every day, add dashi to everything, and get those nori snack chips and some natto and you're good to go :P

Yeah, adding dashi to (almost) everything, and always have dashi in your kitchen - then you have a true Japanese kitchen... :D

Thanks for all your help guys. lol, now I'm totally getting danshi! I also found a Japanese section at my local Wegmans. So that helped also. I think I'm going to try the Okinawa Program, once I buy the book that is. ^^::

Cool! The Okinawa program shouldn't be too hard - you don't have to eat JUST Japanese food. Mainly eat lots of fruit and veggies and some whole grains and when you have to eat meat, eat fish. Once in a while eat some chicken.

I'm happy not alot of it is beef. I've been beef free for about 4 or so years. So I *know* I'll love this diet. I also like fruits and grains anyway. ^^;

Japanese cooking includes plain white rice often with other dishes such as grilled fish, pan-fried meat (pork, chicken etc), stewed vegetables, and so on.

It will help you once know how to make good sticky rice, which is low in fat and filling. It seems a bit boring if you are used to seasoned rice or other carbohydrates, but it is an easy way to start getting into Japanese cooking.

*LOL* Were you craving that much for boys? [ danshi = boys/young men ]
Sorry, but I am a corny guy and I couldn't resist... :p

Not danshi (you can't eat this :D )
But dashi is Japanese fish stock used for almost everything. e.g. miso soup, fried rice, for soya used for tempura....well, most Japanese dishes... :-)

Yes, rakuten. I do crave boys. :D ~sigh~ if only they were edible. I didn't know people would make a big deal out of it but it is a great source of comedy at the end of the day. ^^

why does the word "The Diet" have completly different meaning?

What's with me and making topics with two totally different meanings? 😊 I was just reading about 'The Diet' and I didn't notice how similar it was to this topic heading.
