Funny how the first snow of winter seems so wonderful. Reminds us of Christmas. Makes the ground look so clean & fresh. Clings to the trees and makes them look wonderful. The big fluffy flakes drifting slowly down from the sky seem almost romantic.
BUT THEN...we get more and more, UGH! You have to shovel the heavy crap and dig out the big heavy snowblower. You freeze your butt off in it. The cars skid and crash in it. You put your back out shoveling the wet heavy stuff. Soon there is so much you need big tall heavy boots or snowshoes. Then it melts and refreezes so you slip and slide and fall and break some poor bone. By February, you feel trapped in your home and depressed by all that white stuff. By March you pray for spring and mud season;brown sticky mud is looking good compared to all that stupid snow. Will June ever get here so we can see the last of the white horrible snow and start seeing some green grass again.
Ahh, but today, it is soooo beautiful, LOL.

We don't really have proper snow here. We've had a couple of storms, but the snow only gets a couple of centimetres deep and doesn't stay for long. This week was bad for round here - the snow stayed on the ground for three whole days!

Only a couple earthquakes these last few weeks but no snow. Does it snow in Tokyo?
Well...I'll find out later I guess...

Yes, once in a while, most likely in January or February. Some years, no snow at all!

I remember one "white Christmas" but that was when I was still in elementary school... 😌

Here in Texas, we'd be grateful just to have a short-lived snow fall at least once every four or five years! It gets pretty cold (for us) in the wintertime, to be sure, but the best we'd get is sleet. :shiver: Otherwise, rain and drizzle, which we know should've been snow, if only it were a *leeeeedle* more colder...

We hardly ever get snow here in Seattle, but we're getting some next week from the look of the forecast.

I don't mind it when it comes when it's appropriate (i.e. December, January), but when it snows in March, or even April 19 like it did earlier this year I just want to pull my hair out, and I really start to question if global warming is a hoax.

Why have snow when you have a nice heavy load of sleet, freezing rain, and a coat of thick ice on your property instead? At least that is what I always receive and enjoy here every year in the Ninth Circle of Hell. ;-)

Now I am envious 😊
I hope I'll get to see tokyo under the snow. I'm only staying short term after all ^^

How long are you staying in Tokyo?

Now I see that you live in Asakusa? I go there quite often, because my best friend lives there. I'm planning to go see her once this month!

Meet him if you can!

Dreamer is a great guy and one of the few JREF members I have had the pleasure to meet face to face. He says they are working him to death over there, so drag him away and show him some sites, LOL.

Saying "snow" and "beautiful" in the same breath is a dreadful oxymoron in my book, given my intense distaste for the white stuff, especially when you have to shovel it afterwards!

Good ol Maine !

We got 14 inches of snow yesterday and the 40MPH winds caused many 6 foot high snowbanks. The end of my driveway was plowed in with a hard packed drift 4 feet tall and 6 feet thick. Even with my giant snowblower, it took 2 hours to dig the cars out to go to work, UGH! More snow due tonight. The temperature here this morning is -18 Celsius.

Ouch !

North America is freezing! This morning it is -26 C here in Portland and the light wind makes it feel like -33C on your skin. Sure am glad I work inside and not outdoors.

Burrrrrrr!!!!!! 😲

Black River Maine recorded minus 45 degrees Celsius this morning, UGH!

We're just now getting a steady temperature here in central Texas... It's been cold all week... 20s and 30s. I know I haven't gone through a *pinch* of what most of you guys have, but as a Texan, even -this- weather is a lot for me to handle!

I'm too used to the heat...
that's why I want at least *a leeeeedle* snow with this shivering wind...
it'd be the bright side of this recent weather here.

Didn't I say something about our not getting proper snow here? Well, it snowed last Sunday, Monday, Thursday and again yesterday. The snow has stayed on the ground the whole time. I can't remember ever seeing the snow stay around for over a week before. I wish I had my camera with me today, because the view from my window here is stunning; there is a lawn sloping down from the building towards a small lake with woodland and fields beyond. The lake is frozen and everything else is white.
