Teacher relationships in Japanese schools

Okay, so when I was being 'oriented' by my company to life teaching in Japan, they said don't get involved with the other teachers, as basically it's just not allowed, and one or both of you will lose your job if discovered.

Anyone got any experience / knowledge of this - is it really that 'set' in all schools. E.g. there's one school I visit once a week (if that) and they seem very laid-back on the whole...

I know of two people teaching in the same school who eventually ended up married, though the wife retired from teaching. I guess it depends on the school?

Sometimes the advice they give are a little bit off. I remember that at some sort of orientation before I went to the US, they told me: "Never go in an elevator if you are alone with a woman".

well, my first girlfriend was my teacher lol. heheh. but im not from japan. but still, society does not accept such relationship.

You see that's the problem with some people in Japan they always make a fuzz of everything. It's simply the person not the school. If somebody say no the others will also say no. It depends from one person to another. So in short terms what I want to say is. You may love another teacher but keep your hands clean and stay with your head to your work.
