Sports Shrines To Visit Before You Die

Here's an intellectual exercise just for the sports fan. Suppose after visiting your doctor for your annual check-up you're told you've contracted a fatal disease and only have a year to live. So, you decide to live that year to it's fullest by visiting the most hallowed sporting shrines across the country and around the world. I'll lead things off with my choices (and no, I'm not kicking the bucket anytime soon!):

MLB: Yankee Stadium (Yankees), Fenway Park (Red Sox), Wrigley Field (Cubs)

NFL: Lambeau Field (Packers), Arrowhead Stadium (Chiefs)

NBA: Madison Square Garden (Knicks), Staples Center (Lakers, just for the star watching!)

NHL: MSG (Rangers), Joe Louis Arena (Red Wings)

NCAA Football: Notre Dame, Michigan (the legendary "Big House"), The Rose Bowl (USC)

NCAA Basketball: Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke, just for the chance to whoop it up with the "Cameron Crazies"), The Palestra (done that, it's in Philly where I live)

SOCCER: Old Trafford (Manchester United)

Those are my choices! Let's see yours!

Ive done Wrigley, Fenway, Lambeau, Arrowhead Stadium and Joe Louis Arena. All excellent choices. I'd add the Daytona speedway to that list too, and Cooperstown as well

But being from Chicago, and having lived there for the Bull's dynasty, I'd add in Jordan's statue as a must see. Kiss his toes in front of the United Center......

TENNIS: Wimbeldon

AUTO RACING: Indianapolis Speedway (for the Indy 500)

GOLF: Augusta

Yo, Mad P! Have you kissed the toes of Michael's statue? HA! Speaking of which, while this has nothing to do with a real sport, but here in Philly, people, especially tourists love climbing the steps of our Art Museum like Sylvester Stallone did in "Rocky"! Did that a time or two myself!

Yo Jeff! Been to Augusta and even got to play it! (That was back when I was enroute to living out my dream of playing golf for a living!)

Other sites I've been to? Daytona, Talladega (no, I'm not a race fan!), Busch Stadium (St. Louis), Fulton County Stadium (Atlanta), New Orleans Superdome (before the flood!).

I would love to go to Fenway Park, Wrigley, and The Forum. I would also like to travel to Greece to see some of the old Olympic grounds.

I think you called it about right, flashjeff. All I would add is St. Andrews (the old course) for golf and University of Tennessee for NCAA Football.

CC1: Way cool indeed! What was Augusta like, especially Amen Corner? I've also been to New Orleans (Mardi Gras, 1989) and visited the Superdome too. Most impressive!

HMB: Wow! Forgot all about St. Andrews! That's a hallowed shrine to golfers the world over!
