Everytime when ppl heard I'm CCP(chinese communist party), some ppl will take me and my fellows as some ppl from an opponent positon. A most ridiculous saying is"we are democracy", and you are "dictatorship". So I want to expain sth about China and Chinese. 1st, is CCP new here? No, although we give a name like communist part. But this type of Chinese govenment have exited for more than 2000 yrs. In ancient times, Chinese's politic system has an emperor, officials from normal citizens by imperial exams. Now, there is no emperor, but officials chosen by exams system still exist. And these officials call themselves CCP, now. You see, officials are also from normal persons in China. So when world else's best elites are busy with earning money. Chinese's elites are busy with becoming politics by exams. So bias do exist in China. If you come from a poor family, you cannot take as good score as another rich guy having same IQ. Once the elite go into this system, he has the power of vote. Maybe in your country, every ppl could group and express themselves. But in China, when you want to say something for your hometown and your family, or your group, study well and become a scholar first.

Most countries have civil service exams. So there are other condions making Chinese civil service exam being different.
2nd, philosophy of Chinese.
When most of the rest world ppl are believing some one god(Fake as I think), Han ppl(majority group in China ) only adore some ancient Chinese sholars and their philosophy. It is true that Chinese have no religion believes. But this doesnot mean Chinese donot have principles. Most of the Chinese in your neibourhood are gentle, polite and peace. That is not who we born to be. That is who we taught to be since we were born. When an Asian guy bows to you, this just means he is influenced by Chinese kind philosophy like Confucius. Nowadays, most Chinese are influenced by Confucius philosophy. Main idea of Confucius is living peace, treating other well and enjoying harmony life. Confucius may make one Chinese weak, but it makes all of the Chinese are very strong. Chinese was defeated 2 times in ancient times. When invaders came to rule Chinese, they became Chinese for the reason of Confucius.

and you are "dictatorship".

It must be very annoying for you. The problem is of course, propaganda, something so many westerners refuse to believe exists in the west. I find China to be authoritarian and maybe could be called an oligarchy. But a dictatorship requires a dictator and China does not have one.

But of course while I say China is authoritarian, tomany westerners, especially Americans, bleat like they are so very free, but they aren't really. I do think we have things better on the freedom scale than Chinese, but acting like we have a monopoly on freedom is a farce.

Plus, we in the west also have our elites and yes, money will take you further than brains. I only need on example to prove its true and just how bad it is: George W. Bush. Besides being elite as a rich man, he is also an elite m-o-r-o-n. Yet he got to be President?? I could swing a cat in a trailer park and hit someone with more intelligence and aptitude than GWB. Its obvious he only got there because of money and the political power of his family. And realizing that is why I am not so down on China as so many of my compatriots. Of course I do want China to become more free as well as more responsible in many ways though. But I can say the same for America too, its just America needs it a bit less.

The middle kingdom is one of the few where the government genuinely plays the long game.

They have been playing this game for a while, hence the amazing success in Africa and the middle east.

It's a pity corruption has infiltrated the CCP to the extent that it has.

I feel the success of China will ultimately rest on the ability of the government to stamp out corruption.

I just agree with you, all of this.
But others may not know that Chinese society asks justice and equalitarianism more than civil rights. It's like when there are 1 million idiots in America, then there are some idiots are voted to say for this group. But in China, these 1 million people are just closed in their home yards by their family.

That depends on you defining the word corruption. Most of the money controled by a small group of Americans in US. So I can say US haven't solved this problem well. I consider human society now must have class polarization in every country. At least CCP in China seems to devide money to all the Chinese. China is similar with India. But the different is India's higher class only care for themselves.
