The most common way I heard HE actually spoken was when some friends would answer "what are you going to do tonight?" with 屁をこいて寝る「へをこいてねる」as a joke.

I gave up on it 50 years ago , LOL. I couldn't find a single person in Maine who spoke Japanese or had an interest in it. About 40 years ago I signed up for a Japanese class where the teacher said my Hakata-ben was trash Japanese and I gave up on it then for good. I have a class in 3 weeks my wife signed me up for to get me out of the house. I'm hoping there will be someone there who will take my 40 Japanese learning books to get them out of my cellar. There are supposed to be about 20 people in the class. I'm hoping I can get some or all of them to join JREF.

Almost everybody here is older than you.

I'm not sure what my reading level is. If I had to guess it's N3.5. I've probably forgotten more kanji than I've retained.

I was living the life in Fukuoka Japan with my Japanese sweetheart. The Navy got even with me and sent me to Adak in the Aleutians in 1972. One dollar got 360 Yen and the Navy gave me an extra $80 a month to live off our overcrowded base. I felt rich and lucky. 51 years ago and I still miss it.
