Yesterday, the JMA announced that the rainy season has begun in the Tōkai region along central Japan's Pacific coast, as well as in the Kinki and Chūgoku regions in the west. The start of the rainy season in these areas came three days later than the average year. However, compared to 2024, it arrived 12 days earlier in Tōkai, eight days earlier in Kinki, and 11 days earlier in Chūgoku.
A day earlier, on 8 June, the northern part of Kyūshū and the Shikoku region also entered the rainy season. Meanwhile, Okinawa , Japan's southernmost prefecture, is believed to have marked the end of the rainy season this year.

The onset of the wet season in northern Kyushu was four days later than usual but nine days earlier than last year. In Shikoku, it was three days later than average and nine days earlier than last year. Okinawa's end of the rainy season was 13 days earlier than an average year and 12 days prior than in 2024.
