questions about mp3 players...

I'm trying to decide on one out of these two choices:

...or any others you guys might know of.
I've decided at last to get one (yeah, technology and I are sometime friends), and am not sure what is the 'best for my buck', as it were.
Help?^^;
ps: I'm not incredibly interested in the apple (ipod) brand.

You might want to reconsider an iPod. They aren't as bad as they seem at first. You can actually get your music off your iPod with relative ease too, although you have to copy it from where your iTunes library was onto your iPod, and then open it up at the computer you want to put it on, etc.

Why no iPod? I've been using them for three years without any issue.

I've worn trough a good ten to twenty of those things now,
and in the end it's just a matter of how intensively you'll use it, and how many songs you want on it.

If you're looking into buying one for using all day long, or for really long periods, buy a model wich has a chargeable battery, and around a gig of capacity. [When intended to use it while not having time to let it charge, batteries may be better option though]

For sporadic use, get a cheap model, with little options and memory.

All together, it's not about the brand, it's about functionality.

The best allround is a cheap model,that seems decent enough to go around.

I have really enjoyed my Samsung YP-F1Z. Its a 1 GB player, small in size, built-in belt clip, can record voice, FM radio, and anything via the mini stereo port, has one port for everything, charges via USB, looks like a USB thumbdrive to Win\Lin\OSX, 10 hour battery life, supports WMA, OGG, WAV, MIDI, MP3, small but very readable screen, and supports Japanese text.

Just do yourself a favor and whatever you get buy a decent pair of headphones to go with it, the earbuds that come with most mp3 players are horrid.

I've had to wipe the thing's harddrive like 6 times and lost everything on it. the weirdest thing is when it just stopped working and seemed to be dead. and like 2 months later worked fine. I can never count on it working normally day to day. nothing earthshattering. It's just been a pain.

That's odd, maybe it was defective? I don't hear about Apple making bad hardware too often, in fact it's usually Apple getting praised for it's ingenuity. Do you really think the iPod would have done so well if it had 10 buttons on it's sides, and front? It's so easy to use to. What iPod do you have anyways?

I bought my son a Kenwood 1GB player and it works great! It even accepts a regular AAA battery if the rechargable battery dies. (this came in handy while travelling this last weekend!

<-- ipod owner for quite a few yrs now. i use it almost everyday in my car and with headphones, never gave me any problems, even dropped it a few times . but only thing is, i have an older model, i dont think the new ones could hold up a fight like the older version, but i wouldnt know, and the new ones do have video . maybe u should check in to gettin a used one on ebay or somethin, bet u can get a pretty good deal on an older model. oh an my holds a charge for quite a while, ive used it for hours on end with no need to charge.

srry, havent tried the ones u listed =[. but, of the two, i would say the creative. seams to have a little better features, but they r very close.

This is my baby. I was using it as a modem before I got here, and I love the simple music player.

I subscribe to a couple of big podcasts every week, so I only have to synchronise the phone to get new music and e-mail. It charges from the USB port.

It has bluetooth, but I haven't got around to getting wireless headphones.

Why get an ipod or an iphone?

Mine's a 30 gig 5g video IPOD. My last roommate has had IPODs fail on him so he gets them replaced. he's currently on #5.

I have owned my 30 GB Video iPod for about a year, and haven't had an issue with it yet. That is so strange. :/

I Have a personal dislike for the Aplle brand, I've seen my neighbour wear trough thirthy apple products in a single year [computer,mp3,etc]

And I don't quite like the limitations to the products [required Itunes, and the fact for the computers little mainstream software is compatible]

I use an LG Chocolate, a great phone and MP3, but My gadget is a PMP model, MP3+MP4+Camera+some other funtions I don't use, it cost me about a 100€, but I did pick it up in thailand.
