Question for Nagashima-san (or anyone) re: "Otoko wa tsurai yo"

While I was in Japan back in the day, I really enjoyed the series of movies titled "おとこゎつらいよ" (Otoko Wa Tsurai Yo, It's Tough Being a Man, or something to that effect.) To me they were very good, "feel good" sentimental movies that I thoroughly enjoyed and really showed the Japanese culture and countryside. Plus it was a good way to learn Japanese. I think that I read or heard that the main actor, Tora-san, I forget his real name, but remember his face and the hat he always wore, is dead now. I believe they always came out around New Years or so. But are these movies available on DVD? I cannot find them anywhere. If you can provide any links or information about these movies I would very much appreciate it.
