Question about MEXT 2016

Hi to all forumers, this is my first post in this forum
Now i have some questions about MEXT Scholarship. So i was wondering if there is a master study in business/management/accounting held in Japan's Universities (MEXT Scholarship)?
Second: is this amount of 2000 US (which is too much), why do we need so much amount of money if we are going to get 117.000 Yen monthly allowance? Why do they need so much money?
Third: It's about accommodations-to be more precise are we going to stay in the student domes or in private apartments far away of the University?
Fourth: When do you send your information about studies, university that you finished in your country and stuff like that. Is it at the beginning of April?
I don't know if is this for people who now perfect japanese. or for those who don't know language like me for
e.g. who knows how to write and read but i have some problems speaking it.
Oh, and for the master studies are we having English and Japanese only for testing?

Hey Klaus,
It seems you're a bit confused about what the MEXT scholarship is, so I'm going to answer your questions in a short manner. You can find more information in the other forum topics.
1) With MEXT you can study in principle at any university* (private may not be met due to budgetary reasons). So I'm pretty sure some Japanese University has business/management/accounting *about language see )
2) Don't know where you got that number from, but I'm sure they just want to know if you have that amount to save yourself in case something goes wrong in Japan (probably not needed).
3) As in 1), you can apply for any university, so your housing will depend on what the university provides/offers you and your own choice.
4) I hate to break you the news, but probably the deadline for your country for Embassy Recommendation passed. April 2016 is the date MEXT recipients of the passed deadline leave for Japan. Embassy recommendation application period for first deadline is around April-June, depending on country. Check the Japanese embassy website of your country for detailed information. So either you have to find an university which wants to recommend you for MEXT University Recommendation (more info in forums) or you have to apply in April-June 2016 for April 2017.
For Embassy MEXT you have 3 steps: 1) Sending documents to embassy (deadline 1), 2) English and Japanese (not so important if program is English) test (also assuming you want to study for a Master or PhD, Undergraduate has additional tests) + interview and 3) acquiring a Letter of Acceptance from a Japanese professor.

* Any university if you speak Japanese (N2 level). If not you have to find programs in English. A good way to start is to Google for: Global 30 Japanese universities.

Hi Klaus,

NumesSanguis had some excellent points about the Embassy-Recommended Scholarship, but I wanted to add that there is a "University-Recommended" scholarship application as well, and that application typically begins in October or November, so you still have time. I'm writing an application guide for it, and the first few parts are available at:

There are a lot of programs available now that do not require any Japanese language ability, and I will include links in the guides as to how to find them.

By the way, the $2000 is necessary because you won't get your first scholarship payment until 1.5 - 2 months after you arrive in Japan, so you'll need money to cover your living expenses during that time. Starting your life in Japan can be really expensive, especially if you live in private housing, since there are a lot of up-front costs with starting a rental contract.
The good news is that if you live frugally, you can usually save that amount back up over the time of your studies.
