It is truly a shame.

I mean, I can tolerate it if it is a club with an abundance of attractive ladies in it, but that is about the only time trance is acceptable. Any other time, if I catch anyone listening to trance, they will be put to death.

I just want sm chill out music, and some trance has been described as that.

I am not referring to those crazy beats banging that are ever so popular in dutch clubs ( no offense to dutch ppl, I think you rock, I love holland and dutch girls )

yeah i know what you're talking about.. I've got "friends" that can chill to it... To me it leaves me with an unpleasant churning in my stomach..

but yeah, if it's in a club, i'm drunk and there's an abundance of hot females to get my mind off the music, sure, I can take that. I'll even dance (read "hop") to it.

welp, cant say i agree with you there king, if you havnt been to psy-trance parties, then you dont really know what trance is. deff not what you hear in clubs. so here are some pics that may shed light on your limited view of this music. only goa/psy is trance, the rest is just dance.
like this for instance....some hot chick playing non other than... psy-trance....

i never said it did. and like i said, if you are not experienced with psy-trance (psychadelic trance) then youve not heard real trance. i would agree with you if you were talking about someone like paul okenfold, who uses trance as a lable for his music, when its not even trance. but i dont like club trance anymore than anyone else, its fluffy and fu fu. psy/goa, is far from that, being the most intricate and complex electronic music on earth. i know because i produce it as well, and many of the forfathers of electronic music are responcible for its inception. youth from killing joke for instance, is pretty much responcible for goa trance, and building synthesizers before they were mass produced as they are today, like pink floyd and hawkwind did in the 60's. exploratory musicians.
but to make an argument, rap is out. (if you follow style, i dont really care what ppl do with trends). there is nothing creative about it anymore. ppl like epmd and tribe called quest are gone. no one is making intelligent hip hop, just the same ole crap the dude before him spit out, really, really boring. and musically, rap producers sound like they sit around and play with silly little drum machines and old casio keyboards, i mean cummon, they arent even musically inclined, lol. not to mention mainstream media completely buys into the facade that rap artists today project. money,women,material possesion. all directed at the material world. sad. and just plain silly. and i think i already mentioned boring. nothing i like more than to hear 10 diff rappers say the same thing over and over. ebonics is dead, mainstream rap is going downhill.
im glad that psytrance is not mainstream. some of it has hit the rave world, but for the most part, the music is too fast and dark for ravers, so they dont listen to much of it. on another note, i listen to lots of death metal as well, screw new metal, that s**ts for pussies

I agree with you that lately there has been a significant drop down in quality and everyone is begining to sound the same, but there also have been some good artists this year, kanye west for example. Besides, the new rap is usually club style now, so people just keep askin for the same banging beats. Paul okenfold did a great song with that ready steady go one.

cant say i like ole paul duo, but, if its any consulation, did you know that his very first mix set ever was goa trance? compare it to what he does now and i can say "sell out" quietly under my breath.... but yes, there are some shining gems in the world of rap lately i suppose...its just not compelling enough for me musicly. the last good hip hop i liked was company flow, they knew what was up. tellin ppl how stupid the rap game is.... oh well, theres always hope, but man, floss rap is just dumb

I wouldnt have had the patience to write all that down, but i have the same thoughts..

I might also add that yeap, all mainstream stuff is usually quite plastic, in every genre, and, also, I dont really consider mainstream rap&hiphop as real stuff anyways.
So many times the mainstream stuff is about making money and success, with the blingblings etc, that the originality and making music for musics sake is gone.
Im not a fan of rap/hiphop though, but some underground French stuff and that Japanese Origami group..they impressed me.
