OK, I said I suck at drawing/painting hair, right? So, what did I do? I went and made a painting sketch where the focal point is the hair, didn't I :banghead: It's Die - I'll post it tonight, along with as far as I've got on Mana, cos I'm going away on Friday pm for two weeks (jeez I'll never catch up here!) *collective sigh of relief from everyone*

This is Die - the one with the hair... it's more of a kind of 'study in red paint and, ermmm...' than anything serious...



And finally, the Mana drawing I'm working on at the moment. I'm kinda scared to start on the hair and costume!

i started a big A1 charchoal one today...
(no prises for guessing who....)
it's looking... ok... i guess....
doing it at school because their easels's better than mine ^^;
(that and it's something to do... because otherwise i'm doing bog all in the lesson....)

my teacher says i work well in charcoal... i agree
still looks noting like him tho....

Well, I'm not gonna oil paint *that* Mana one... maybe *a* Mana at some point in the future... that one was just a sketch. Or meant to be; then I got sort of drawn into that terrible careful preciousness so detested by art tutors .....but, that kind of delicate style is simply demanded by Mana, ne? Not sure if I'm gonna oil paint that one or another portrait of him that I've got, or that one where he's sitting by a window in a white wedding-y dress... Hmmmm.... *is spoilt for choice*

Thanks for being nice about my pics To be honest, I hated the hair on the Phobia one... :sorry: (maybe it looks better at a kind of photographed-and-reduced-in-size remove!)

Hmmm... Totchi looks like a dork on the photo anyway... does that give me a get-out? *thinks not but is desperately trying* I'm sure he has teeth really... oh I used ordinary pencils for all of them btw (B, 2B & 6B)

Yeah, working in charcoal is great! I like to put down a mid-tone first, rub over the whole lot, then start taking out the highlights with putty eraser. Maybe you work like this also... it's a really good way of getting rid of the scary-big-white-sheet-of-paper syndrome Plus it's somehow better for getting proportions right, too...

Anyway, have fun with it!

yeah... i was thinking it'd turned more into more of a tonal drawing than a base for an oil pain work... pluss...wouldn't you want to use one of those canvasesyou got for that?

and i agree... Mana can only be drawn in such a manor...
i do live that wedding-y type dress one... it's gorgeous... tho... oerhaps a little lacking in colour for oil paint... :?

ah... the hair... i like it around the face... the way it curves round and the parting too ^.^

yuhu... well... sometimes i put a bace down... but... i dunno... i just goe where the picture takes me, lol... i always feel so free with a huge sheet of paper infront of me on a easle and the charcoal in my hand

lol... i did the base outline... whent to go watch gAckt play dressup... looked back over ant it... screamed, and turned it over and started again.... i'm happier with the second attempt but... it still doesn't look like him >.<

but I really want to draw him, anyone has a good pic...? when I look for good drawing pics I just forgets what I'm looking for
