Yah, I've seen that video. I think all his american fans took that vid personally, I mean how couldn't they? I thought it was such a beautiful gesture and after that I started to really respect him. =)

Intersting i have to find that video. What I find interesting bout the artists is there hair. The cool colors they have. I would like to dye my hair purple with blue streaks temporarily LOL. That would be so crazy.

wild hair days? hmmm....Sei Ki Ma 2 with Daemon Kogure was probably the precursor of all wild hair demonic heavy metal rock groups with a personality that sends Gackt away in fear...
Aside from the fact that the last seikimatsu (end of the millennium) has already passed, Daemon is probably the only rocker from japan to be interviewed on Larry King Live...and his Fuji Film commercials were pretty funny, too....
for those that were able to see those, that is...kind of like the Gackt commercials lately that are aimed for humor....

vocal Koshi Inaba has very wide range and the capacity of his lungs is probably quite large,he writes the lyrics,he also plays the piano and guitar

guitarist Takahiro Matsumoto is excellent,very skillful and interesting guitar sounds even in the B'z pop songs
(in my opinion,most guitar rhythm and solos in Pop and pop-rock songs are not very good and not interesting,especially in the US ,Steve Vai agreed with this)
he writes the music

Tak has also released a several guitar albums by himself
(I love his guitar albums,great stuff)
he was invited by the guitar virtuso Steve Vai to play a song name 'Asian Sky',Steve Vai said it is incredibly hard to find a guitarist who has the skills to play along with him,but Tak did an excellent job,that proves Tak is a great guitarist

If you can't find Jpop in new york, you're not looking hard enough....
I've seen tons of video shops and stuff available advertised in NYC...in Engrish-based Japanese newspapers....check out Town Journal newspaper...there should be an east coast version of it available in your neighborhood....look for a free copy in J-restaurants or bookstores...

they may have Japanese-based newspapers there for the local community where you can find rental video shops with jpop info...couldn't hurt to check it out....rent some stuff and see...

Hmm, my J-rock list is fairly similar to everyone else's, so I won't post it here. I reconmend B'z though, they were the first group I heard ^__^
A band which hasn't been mentioned, Lariene. Yup, I like the indie visual scene ^^
As for Gackt, I have a couple of issues with some of his songs, but on the whole he's cool. He can't dance though. I cringe when watching some of his lives >.< His older ones more so, at least he's improved! In a recent live, he mentioned been older then his grandmother.
If you want to classify him as either Jrock or Jpop, then drop the 'J'. Yes, he's Japanese, but not all muscians their could be bundled into one of two groups.
Miyavi! If you're a fan of him, it's pretty good, since he doesn't really show anyone else in his vids. So you get lots of Miyavi ^_^ His music's fun.
