PCGS Coin forums - why are people like this?

I've been a member of the Collectors Universe Coin forums for over a year. I am not a well liked member there. It seems anything I post I always get flamed. I guess I could be compared the same way here too, although it isn't as bad, I think in general people on this forum are alot nicer in general.

People said stuff like "Are you kidding me?" etc, sarcasm. I don't see what I did wrong. I will post a link, first, here's the link link

Now I realize gold indian heads are supposed to look incuse, thats their design, but look on the left side of the neck on mine, it doesn't seem to "flow" with all the other sunken designs.

I also looked at it under my cheap 30X micronta (Its one of those cheap handheld microscopes) and did not see any die polish around the neck , or any heavy die polish at all. Which is odd.

Though tersely worded, the reactions seem reasonable to me.

If you want somebody to take a look at a particular detail of an image, it is incumbent upon you to provide that image so it is easily viewable with as little hassle as possible on the part of the people you're asking a favor of. Telling them to save the file, then open it and zoom in on it with Irfanview is an unreasonable thing to do when you're the one asking for a favor. Like the one guy said, you're overestimating the give-a-crap factor. People might g.a.c to the point of clicking on a picture that you have already zoomed in on, cropped, saved, and uploaded yourself....but they won't g.a.c. enough to go through all that effort themselves.

In other words, it comes down to a "Why should I put more effort into this than you are?" type of thing. (Chief among the reasons I don't teach English anymore, by the way).

Some forums have a very hostile atmosphere, even when there's nothing much to be hostile about. If you don't go about something exactly the way people think you should, it turns into hell. So I think it's a good idea to lurk in a forum to find out how people there act, and then join if you like it.
Jref forum is good though, for the most part
