An award winning documentary explaining why there is conflict in Palestine-Israel. I thought this documentary was good. I'd like to ehar what other people think of it.

Any country which is occupied by a ruthless millitary occupation has a right to resist the occupation. It is not fair to condemn suicide bombings while not trying to understand the reasons for people carrying out attacks. Namely the millitary occupation.

US media likes to say this is an ancient problem or a cycle of violence. What US media makes sure to do is to only tell a little of the whole story.

I watched the documentary, and just finished a bit of internet searching. What the documentary says about how the media doesn't give the full story is quite apparent. I did some quick browsing around CNN, and I notice that the only groups that are really quoted are groups such as the Israeli Defense Force. Also, it mostly mentions Hamas attacks with Israeli retaliation, rather than vice versa.

I think that this is a very good documentary, especially because it makes sense. It tells it like it is and refrains from making absurd claims (for example, a claim that all Israelis are inhumane monsters). Rather, it states that most Israelis are unaware of the extent to which Palestinians are oppressed. That makes sense, because no matter how much we or the Israelis talk about how bad Palestinians have it, we really have absolutely no clue how bad it is unless we go and see for ourselves, which is not something I imagine Israelis would be tripping over themselves to do.

There was one little part which I didn't like. That was when the movie talked about how much aid money the US gives to Israel. They tried to give you an idea of how much money that was by talking about better ways to spend that money, such as on child health care. I see their point in doing so, but I feel that it strays a bit too far off-topic. How all the money going to Israel should be spent is a topic that would better be discussed elsewhere (and it may give people the wrong idea).

Anyway, I recommend taking the time to watch this documentary. Quite informative.

Suicide bombings are cowardly actions, especially when used on innocent people. Who is to judge or condemn others, we don't know what it truly in there heart. As long as terrorism is supported there will never be peace in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world.

Hamas attack Israel because Israel wount let go of the Palestinian occupation. If suicide bombings is coward bombing school children behind tanks and dropping 100kg bombs on apartment blocks is much more coward.

yes blowing up innocent civilians is cowardice.

but if my only effective weapon is a great explosive around my waist to blow up a military barricade ...then i will do it if it was my last resort...
the Lebanese did it in their war against Israel and it worked..now our land is free of their occupation..
an occupation that lasted for 18 years , and an occupation that took 25% of our land..
on 1982 Israel even invaded our capital Beirut...
and one of the most brave, admired women of all time drove a truck loaded with explosives..she drove fast..she was shot at and though kept driving into the Israeli barricade...she blew her self along with 200 Israeli enemy troops...
her name was " sana meheidli "

now that is the farthest thing than cowardice ....that is heroism and bravery it self..that was an effective painful blow to the enemy...she hit hard and hit deep...

that is the type of martyr missions we are speaking about..not the coward, civilian bombing, children killing, radical..terrorism that we see today.

the martyr missions I spoke of and which i gave example of are missions which are glorious...and the ones who do them should be celebrated as martyrs...
and they should be an example to follow

I think Hezbollah had a right to resist Israeli occupation but I do not agree with everything they have done in the past. The same with Hamas and Fateh. However I don't think there is no doubt who the greater evil is. Instead of asking people to stop resisting oppression in a violent manner it makes so much more sense to tell the oppressors to stop the oppression and the occupation.

It is not only black and white. There are many brave Israelis too who are strongly against the Israeli government who build houses for the Palestinians which have been bulldozed by the Israeli Occupying Force such as these guys here.

Yes, but put yourself in a Palestinian person's shoes. (Although this could apply to any group.)

For your whole life, you have been oppressed by Israel. Israeli forces evicted you from their home so Israeli people could live in relative luxury. Israeli forces keep you from going anywhere, be it school, seeing loved ones, or even work. Israel is building walls and the like to keep you isolated. The list goes on.

All that really matters to you is that Israel is keeping you downtrodden. Palestinians have deep contempt for Israel and would do anything to end occupation. That leads to a lot of rage in the minds of Palestinians, and often this rage is misguided, causing people to turn against anything Israel - military, buildings, civilians, whatever. Desperate people do desperate things, and with all this unchecked rage and loss of will to live going around, you can see how people turn to civilian suicide bombing.

By no means am I justifying civilian suicide bombing, I'm just providing an explanation as to why it happens.

I just can't condone killing innocent. Not every person is your oppressor, how do you pick and choose? Is killing 10 people to kill the one person you despise right, I don't believe so. That's the difference. I can't kill people.

But you said on the other thread that US shoud have bombed Saudi was it? How can you support bombing countries and say that you dont support killing people? Thats a self contradiction.

US should stop giving billions of dollars in aid to Israel. Israel is not even a poor country. US is only supporting a ruthless millitary occupation.

Olmert makes it clear he will continue the illegal construction of Israeli homes.

Amen to that.
Jews stole that land from the Palestinians, with the help of the West. First, they started attacking Palestinians, bit by bit, then they turned to terrorism and made British leave, leaving Palestinians with no protection. With the help of the Americans, they just sweeped right in and occupied it.
The fact they were abused during the Second World war got them sympathy from the West, and no one cared about people living in Palestine before they came. The West just wanted to ease their pain somehow.
And they have... they made them into cold blooded murderers terrorizing other people legally with the help of the West, and occupying Palestine for over 60 years! So you tell me... which is worse - 2nd world war that lasted for few years or occupation of Palestine, that has been going for 60 bloody years!
They have no rights in their own country, they are treated as animals (even worse), they cannot travel, if they do, they cannot come back. This subject is so frustrating, because there is nothing you can do. You can try, but you will end up like Rachel Corrie.
No... we shouldn't just blame the Media - mostly controlled by the Zionists, but other Arab countries as well, for they kiss American ***. And why? For the money. It's all about the money, always have been, and always will be.
