Noob question in Japanese..

こんにちわ みなさん, this is my first post on the site. I'm still a beginner in Japanese, i need a little help please.
What is the difference between こちらこそ and どういたしまして.. the both seem to have the same meaning and both can be a respond to ありがとうございます

Okay so if こちらこそ means "I should be the one saying that" then it can be said in various situation and not only after being thanked, right?

Right. It also can be a response to apologies, for instance.
