Hi. I'm currently a student at Illinois State University studying Japanese. I spent a year in Japan while in the Marines (MCAS Iwakuni) and plan on returning to Japan after graduation (hopefully in the JET Programme).

Hey Baret, what's your MOS? Mine's 2844, (Comm Maintenance) I have a few months before I get out or re-enlist. However, since I'm from Illinois, my colleges of choice is IIT, or IU urbana. If I decide not to re-enlist.

Are you from Illinois?

I definately need to ask you a few question. If I reenlist, I plan on getting orders back to Japan. Hopefully mainland. What's the surround areas like near Iwakuni? You know, what's cool, what's not. I was stationed in Okinawa for 2 1/2 years. Currently Im at MCAS Beaufort, been here for 2 years. Gotta love that 5 year contract. haha.

Anyways. Definately enjoy your stay. There's another Marine on here that was in Beruit. His ID is CC1.

I go to ISU now. Everything is paid for by the IVG (Illinois Veteran's Grant) and the GI Bill. I also get the Pell Grant which pays for my university apartment. There's also another state grant, MAP or something like that, you can apply for. If you really want to get your degree, I highly suggest getting out and coming back home man.

I plan on going back to Japan after I graduate for a year to work on the language. Then to law school to get a degree in international law and business.

If you have questions about getting out, shoot me an IM at PntOGnnss1759. I left Iwakuni 4 years ago, but I traveled all over Japan. So let you know where to go if you ending up re-enlisting. (Don't do it! Just kidding ... but not really).

I sure have! But not for a long time. Probably more than 8 or 9 years ago.

Edit: Also, I understood what you wrote in Japanese (about being close), but what do the first two kanji mean?

Not bad. I'd like to start traveling again. Maybe do a semester overseas. Also considering a Eurotrip this summer.

As of now, I'm living in Osaka, and will probably be here till my visa runs out in the summer. Not a bad place. If you're gonna be a international student, you should check out Kansai Gaidai University.
